I have a PII 400 with 256 RAM and PULSAR I classic installed on board connected via ADAT to a digital mixer FOSTEX VM 200.Yesterday I bought a mic pre amp, MINDPRINT EN-VOICE connected to an AKG C3000b condenser mic.
They told me I should by-pass the FOSTEX and connect the MINDPRINT analog OUT directly to the PULSAR analog IN. I did so but i found out that the analog input of my pulsar has not such hot signal as the MINDPRINT output. As a result of this, I hear too much distortion as I take the input gain of the MINDPRINT at -6 dB.
1) Is there any way to add -26 dB from the pulsar analog in ,so becomes compatible with the MINDPRINTS analog out?
2) Which converters are better to use? these on PULSAR or those on FOSTEX VM 200? (connected in ADAT with pulsar?)

please help me...

your pre must be +4db output (pro) and you must have the sp/dif version of pulsar (-20db input, consumer).no matter, just pad down the level out of your pre.(or pad the mic.that is a VERY hot mic and it has a built in pad.)regardless, have a REAL limiter between the pre and the computer as digital clipping is death to the track.a limiter probably has input and output level controls and can match signal levels.also if you are connected to the fostex via adat lightpipe, there is no difference in going in that input.(except that you might like the sound of the fostex or cw ad/da converters better.either way you got to go thru ad/da so it's your choise.)
