Unfortunately the „working“ was only a partial one.
The improvised STDM Extension fails as soon as any delay or reverb is involved (crackling).
I‘ve had all cards on exclusive interupts and then removed the connector posts to test the card with a regular connector and everything was fine again.
Obviously an STDM connection is something peculiar... but I don‘t have an idea about it’s signaling parameters.

Just got an Asus P4C800 for bargain from the neighbourhood (5 PCI slots) and will build on that one.
(additional Sata, dual channel Ram, full AGP connector)

Here is one more attempt to upgrade my (assembled in 2008) desktop audio PC to a more current state. This will be home for my 2x Pulsar 2 .

Following postings from other members, I have purchased an ASUS PRIME B460 PLUS that has 2 pci slots. I have also got a Intel Core i7-10700 Comet Lake Prosessor/CPU - 8 cores - 2.9 GHz.

So, instead of assembling a new pc myself, I have got an offer from a local store that also recommends the following compontents. I am tempted to go for it, but would like to ask if anyone here at Planetz has any comments or opinions based on own experience.

It shouldn't have issues from the PCIe to PCI bridge, if you do have any dropouts it will be onboard devices or drivers that cause latency spikes (DPC Latency). Still, that's unusual in this era.

No, I have recently bought the MOBO and CPU separately, as I intended to build the PC myself. Then I decided to ask the local store to sort things out for me and to come up with a recommendation for the other components. So I have not used the MOBO and CPU in other systems, they are both new. So now I am curious if this new build will be the best of both worlds, providing a 12 DSP Scope system and modern CPU/RAM/SDD.
