Hi,

there are three inputs (or outputs) on the S/PDIF module in the pulsar software environment - two of these are obvious (and I am using them) but the third the D input or output is unclear. The manual alludes to it carrying AC3 coded streams however it does not appear in the picture. Can anyone point me to more information about this.

cheers

mark

SPDIF "D" connection is to be used with Digital Wave Source for Dolby AC3 passthrough. You would then connect an AC3 ready receiver (like your consumer SONY or something) to decode the AC3 signal to watch your DVDs in surround sound

Can I generate an AC3 signal then or is this simply a passthrough?

Dolby AC3 passthrough. The licensing fees to generate this would at least double the cost of your Pulsar.

You can of course mix for surround and output 4 or more discrete channels though.
