Help Needed!!
Help Needed!!
Hi. I,ve a Pulsar II 6 DSP Card and a Power Sampler 3 DSP Card running in Windows 7 64 bits. My core processor is Core i5. I,ve Scope PCI 5.1 running in it and Reaper as a DAW and I´ve setted the MIDI In in Reaper too but I cannot hear anything yet. I´ve connected two XLR cables from the Main Outs from the mixer to the two XLR Ins on the breakout cable and I´ve connected my headphones to the mixer headphone out and, also, I´ve connected my midi keyboard controller via MIDI as well to the MIDi In in the breakout cable. The problem is that when I hit the keys on the controller I cannot hear a damn thing, but it seems that Scope is receiving the MIDI signals and the mixer too. Why I cannot hear nothing? In the Routing Window everything seems ok. Maybe the problem is ASIO. Please I need some advice to get me started. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Help Needed!!
well, a screenshot of your routing window and the audio setup in Reaper would help.
what synth are you trying to control?

Re: Help Needed!!
well, just from a quick glance,
the midi controller, if it is connected to the card's midi input, is going into Scope and comes out the Pulsar2 midi A source. it then goes to the mixer and the lightwave synth. Reaper is not involved at all.
Scope is virtual reality. it is EXTERNAL HARDWARE as far as the computer is concerned. only the GUI is inside windows. what happens in the card is a totally different world than the computer. to get midi to Reaper, the Pulsar midi source must be connected to the sequencer midi destination. then it can be recorded to a midi track that has the Scope midi number one as it's input. that track needs to send midi out of the sequencer to the synth, so the output of the track should be Scope midi 1. then, in Scope, the sequencer midi source needs to be connected to the midi input of the synth. this is EXACTLY the same as a hardware setup.
the Scope routing window is your friend. learn it and enjoy it. it allows anything that can be done with hardware to be done with your computer. the ASIO modules can offer more channels, too. those channels must be enabled in Reaper(first and last channel setting in Reaper audio settings). to change the number of ASIO channels(these are your input and output jacks for Reaper), Reaper must be CLOSED. right click on the ASIO source and click on surfaces\open channel settings. click and drag to change the number of channels. i would use the ASIO2 source and ASIO2 destination for Reaper. they're in the software i/o menu.
as you can see from the midi connections to the synth in the window presently, any output can feed many inputs. an input can only receive from one output, however. since you are not automating the mixer, it can be disconnected from the midi connection.
to connect, click on the writing just behind the red or green arrow on a module and then on the module do the same. disconnecting is the same as connecting. it's a little tricky until you get the hang of it. you can also highlight a cable and press the delete key to disconnect. if you right click on a module and choose "disconnect", it will disconnect ALL cables connected to the module. you can also make or cancel connections via the Live Bar.
experiment!
you have a very detailed, in-depth system that can do some surprising things, if you know how to use it and have imagination...
