Int€l and Micro$oft Can Bite Me

Post by dawman »

This Windows 10 forced upgrade shit pisses me off.
Then we see Int€l having ghost launches to keep folks from buying AMD.
Then Micro$oft acting like they have a version of Linux....

Don't these jergov's make enough money already?
Competition is good, but seems like when it fades away we end up getting 1,000 USD CPUs
like the old 1GHz Coppermine from 1999....

These guys can Bite me.

Go back to older music hardware only, ditch most computers, plugins and DAW application s##t,- and you won´t never again think about Mickeysoft, Wintel and crappy computer hardware cost a kingdom but fails soon.

Hiring roadies schlepping big racks is probably cheaper than hunt after the latest computer hard and software, all the upgrades and updates for apps and plugins.
And it saves a lot of lifetime too !

O.k., o.k. ... let´s keep SCOPE (32Bit) on a outdated XP machine build from trash and a cheapo sequencer/recorder like Reaper and/or Tracktion to have some recording available.

Actually I fear a crash from Scope.
It's been 6 1/2 years of beating the shit out of this DSP rack and NEVER once a failure.
Sure a few times I screwed things up by dragging folders into each other or some stupid shit.
But I want the XITE-1 to take a break.
A motif rack with Samples for horns and flutes.
The new Physis EX board has all of the Pianos I'll ever need.

Scope lined my pockets, bought me tons of hardware, fed my bitches, bought me cars....
Best investment I ever made but maybe it should retire in a project studio where failure does not exist.

I have great roadies. An 88 year old lady helps out every now and then.
Here she is huffing my rack on the dolley into the house.

Just stop upgrading lol. Stay with Win 7 and and old Intel chip. My computer is a bit old, but it still runs everything fine.

Actually, I've been spending close to 80 hours a week in front of my 2012 MacBook Pro. No time for music,

- bit harsh, given they're just offering you a free upgrade, which will cost you $100 in a year's time. You can just say no :)

From what I can tell, Microsoft has gone through a massive upheaval and is a totally different company than it was even 2 years ago. I'm using Windows 10 here (not with Scope yet) and it was an unbelievably smooth upgrade. It even has the option to downgrade in-place for the first month of use!

I just turned all my auto updates off and automatic restart off. Problem solved. It won't ask me again.

Good one !

How´s Rhodes, Clavinet and Wurly ?
The demos on their website were not so good IMO.

That´s what I do, my computers stay in my homestudio, thus the audio-cards.
SCOPE PCI and XITE-1 is studio gear for me.
I find computers on stage cumbersome to use and on a laptop I don´t trust the Expresscard 54/34 connections as also not USB, network RJ45 and such.

and have you read this: https://blog.algolia.com/when-solid-sta ... hat-solid/

or this: http://www.macworld.com/article/2920727 ... -fast.html

When going on tour, you´d do backups of your drives, 2 for each drive I think,- and put these somewhere in the luggage or in a rack drawer.
They get no power there, probably lose data quick depending on room temperatures.
That´s what I call a backup, hurray !

What a crappy technology flash memory is ...

Yes, it's true about SSDs. I had a drive go bad on me. It was failing the SMART check, but it still worked. The OCZ tools didn't even detect it. They sent me a replacement. But this was a while ago.

kind of a separate note, but Win 10 upgrade screwed up jbridge for me. I don't think jbridge is compatible. Not an issue for me since I'm just testing on a non production machine, but still kinda sucks since it's up to jbridge guys to update, and realistically it's not a very pressing issue. (probably not many production machines are running Win 10) Otherwise seems to work fine though. Not much better, but not broken.

Hmm, the Sonar Bitbridge or whatever it is called is all I need if I run 32 bit plugins.

Reaper uses a version of JBridge.
Havent heard anything bad yet.
But several DAW users have posted driver issues.
Fear not.
If you dont bow in submission to windows upgrade geeks will crucify you on the internet
