I wanted to share with you my latest discovery. Lately I've been more into live improvised electronics, and been having a lot of fun and learning much about making sounds (music!) in real time. Best thing is I have found a nice group of musicians and we meet regularly in a dark basement for some open sessions. There's some chaos, and some banality, but sometimes, the in-betweens are just plain wonderful. Plus, I get to see, hear and touch a lot of equipment, from old analogues, to DIY stuff...
It sure beats staring at a DAW screen.
So, to the point: I've been assembling a small, portable computerless setup (I do have an iPad for MIDI routing, controller and the ocasional sequencing / looping) that I can carry to these sessions, and also reconfiguring my own live setup. I was on the lookout for a nice hardware reverb, within a certain budget, when I found this: http://www.strymon.net/bigsky/
There is no reverb plugin in Scope that comes close to this, IMO, and yet it runs on a single 366MHz SIMD SHARC processor.
It's certainly not very cheap, but the form factor is excellent, as it is small and rugged enough to carry around, and the sound is pristine, with 24bit, 96KHz converters. It's got many algos, from the more classic Halls, Rooms, Plates and Springs, to some out there effects, like shimmer, bloom, swell... Even though it's made for guitar, it sounds awesome on my synths... Even on the Axoloti

I actually sold a few pieces of equipment so I could stretch my budget, and the shop made me a nice deal on one, so I bought it, and I am still amazed with it.
And also happy to see that this quality of reverb can be had on a similar platform as the Scope XITE, maybe one day we'll have a reverb plugin such as this

Cheers to you all!
