Pedal Snake for Physis K4

Post by dawman »

Trying to build a pedal Snake and it must be custom made.
100 bucks should do it.
But can anyone explain if I can extend the cables with 1/4" adapters w/o screwing up the signal strength or inpendence.

And what the hell do all of these rings mean.
I know the tip is a tip, what that's about it.
Must make sure to get the names right before I order the snake.

Cheerz and thx

I think a 1/4" TRS ("stereo") should work, even if the pedal only has 1/4" TS (mono). You can try each pedal with a TRS 1/4" extension cable if you have one around (like for extending 1/4" headphones)...or use a 1/4" TRS/differential patchbay. If that works, you can just make the snake use all TRS connectors, and you don't need to worry about all the customization...or what happens if you replace pedals in the future.

It shouldn't change the pedal resistance/impedance values in any measurable way.

Hell, if the headphone extension works, just buy 1 for each pedal, and tape wrap them together. Probably cost you $20-30.

That's what I do, but use pipe insulation from Lowes, tied off around the Keyboard Stands legs.
Even have a 9o degree elbow to keep the look of dangling cords invisible.

Thanks I am going to use a male to female headphone extension, if it works it will save me some cash.

It's not the Piano Graded keys, but heavy enough for me.
The action is perfect, glissandos on B3 emulations and synths is easy, no clicking from hitting so many wooden/plastic keys, just a smooth slightly depressed exercise.
Play 64th note trills easily, can trigger up to 8 discernible velocity layers in PianoTeq Pro and at least 6 in VST sample based instruments.

Great preference menus for live performance, i.e. entering 3 digits to recall a program then enter, really sucks, so they made a "live" option that recalls data when the 3rd digit is pressed. Sounds meaningless but a keystroke live is something worth removing for me.
But the Chain modes are better than the MC 3000 (same company builds Physis).

Best controller EVER made, will definitely last for 20 years of abuse from me.
I was going through a KS88 every 2 years, I ran out of the 6 I bought, and ebay sales were just not worth the cash, so Privia PX-3S seemed fine. It did me well for years but is way to troublesome live.
I felt like a handcuffed Octypus between pedal, keys and the BCF 2000.

FWIW A headphone extension cable worked on ALL pedals, Switches and sustains.

EV-5/FC7/FC4/FC5 & M Audio Sustain too.

32 USD.....Sure beats the custom ones 90 bucks.
Velcro straps hold it in the shape of the Standtasic Stands' Legs.
One for MIDI one for Pedals, zero for audio since I need no new sounds.
