New member here, but looong time lurker of this forum! There are some very clever people here, that´s for sure

Anyway, as topic says, been toying with the idea to use Scope v5.1 as a kickass digital mixing desk. I have actually done it before to some extent, I used to own a Pulsar II 6 dsp card, and used it to run monitors for my band (5 piece band all running stereo in-ears). This was actually quite amazing, it sounded really good and i had still some dsp left. I used the asio dest module out to Cubase, and recorded every rehearsal and gig we did with total flexibility. Long story short, we ended up buying a Behringer X32 console so that everybody can control their own mix using iPads etc. The Pulsar-rig wasn´t used anymore, and i ended up selling it

Anyway, to the topic: I´m also a Foh-engineer for a couple of local bands, and i´m tired of hauling around a big and bulky analog mixing desk. I have considered buying a digital desk of the "new era", but then the idea struck me to hook up with the good ol´ Scope again. So, my idea was to get hold of some of the old cards to use as a digital mixer with absolute flexibility and near-zero latency ( I was considering an xite-1D as well, but the amount of i/o is a bit lacking at only 16 channels of adat, and the holy A16 with Z-link is the hen-teeth´s of the century i presume ? ). I mean, in Scope you have some amazing sounding eq´s, dynamics and reverbs, and the possibility to do virtual soundchecks etc etc. Plus, a good amount of i/o if using 3 cards cascaded.
A plan is to get a 24" (or bigger/smaller) touchscreen and use that to control faders and stuff in Scope, and maybe throw in a Bcf2000 as a physical fader-pack. I was also thinking about running a vnc-client on my iPad to control Scope wirelessly from the crowd/stage.
So, my question to you professors out there is: Should i do this or not ? Are there any traps to fall into ? And has it been done before ? I´m always thinking about computers and their reliability, but after all, a digital mixer is no more than a computer with some mic pres and some faders (in my opinion anyway).
Sorry for a very long first ever post
