Now that Greece is getting really better economically, I would like to expand my audio equipment.
I have 14dsp + 6dsp pci cards. These work together perfectly for 10 years.
If I buy xite1, how would it be possible to use the older pci ones together?
The main reason I need the pci cards is the i/os.
xite combined with pci cards?
Re: xite combined with pci cards?
Not because it is easy, but because it is hard...
Re: xite combined with pci cards?
thanks..
according to the article, the sequencer could not work with 2 audio engines at the same time(this is logical), but can recognize the midi ports.
But how about using all the ios?(xite1 and pci cards together.) Connect the pci cards via adat to xite1??

Re: xite combined with pci cards?
Yep that appears to be Dante's trick... PCI hosts all the connectivity and some of the synths, and Xite works as the DSP beast...

Re: xite combined with pci cards?
Exactly. It all comes down to how many XITE ADAT inputs you are prepared to dedicate to connect from the PCI cards.
I only use 4 channels for the Zarg synths, so have another 4 to on-pass PCI inputs on to the XITE if need be.
So I only use ADAT input B up for those, with ADAT input A dedicated to Alesis AI3 inputs.

Re: xite combined with pci cards?
and you have 2 scope .exe running at the same time? 1 for scope pci and 1 for scope xite?
Re: xite combined with pci cards?
I have been doing this as well for about a year now thanks to Dante for pioneering this config. I am on WinXP 32bit Xite on Scope 5.1 32bit and PCI on Scope 5.0 32bit. I have a Scope Pro and 2 Scope Projects (2ndgen) and Xite-1ARCADIOS wrote:and you have 2 scope .exe running at the same time? 1 for scope pci and 1 for scope xite?
The sacrifice of an ADAT stream is well worth the extra juice and routing capabilities to me.
A couple of things to be aware of/consider.
You must be running both Xite and PCI on the same platform - meaning if you plan on running Win7 64bit on your system you will need to make sure your PCI cards have Scope 5.1 keys (The Xite comes with it)
With my installation, something got corrupted or crosswired when I tried to run an STS sampler on each side simultaneously. The reason may be that I pointed the sample path to the same location on a different hard drive but i had to reinstall the Xite software to fix it and now only run the STS on that side only. (have not heard of that problem with anyone else yet so maybe just my system.) However under 5.1 64bit I heard the STS does not work anyway.
Your MIDI routing can be handled by your DAW or you can try using CopperLan which I've found to be quite flexible and useful. (or any of the other midi routing programs)
Other than that I would highly recommend you trying this out as I am absolutely satisfied and wouldn't trade my PCI cards in for anything right now.
Hope you have a good experience with it like me.
Dan
Re: xite combined with pci cards?
Yes 2 seperate Scope installations running at the same time. My main Scope folders are called SCOPE XITE and SCOPE PCI.ARCADIOS wrote:and you have 2 scope .exe running at the same time? 1 for scope pci and 1 for scope xite?
In fact, I have both of these installed on 2 different partitions - one for Win XP 32 bit and one for Win 8 64 bit.
So all up, I have 4 working Scope installations on the same machine

Like YaYa I wouldn't trade my PCI cards for anything either (except ones with more DSP chips), they have become my Zarg engine !
