STS and XITE/PCI dual config

Post by yayajohn »

WinXP32. I get this error message "cannot find conversion 0X1 -> 0X2 nonscaling" It worked the other day on both the Xite and PCI as I was putting everything back together after a summer away and then stopped. The only thing i can think of with that might be a USB driver from a CP-300 or a Novation SL or perhaps maybe something else external I wasn't aware of.
The STS's will load on both sides in the scope window and even load samples, just no sound comes out.
Most likely something to do with the dual config and the windows system. I have noticed that when I save a project on the Xite side, the default save project path changes to the Xite install so there is definately some crossover btwn the 2 installs going on and I have to take care to check each time i save a project. This STS error happens when I start from scratch though.
Anyway I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where i might look to try and track down the problem. The sample/load paths all seem to be correct for both sides of the fence.

(I realize this dual config is entirely out of the realm of the design specs of the STS and the scope OS so I have been trying to find a VST equivalent that will read my Akai CD3000 sample library without having to convert everything again but not having much luck.)

hmm, ok that would be cool. I've actually never loaded that up. Is that XTC only though?
The setup is asking for a key and none of the keys on my cards seem to work.

Not sure - I know its native, mine came free with a Luna I think. Its a Creamware relic so not sure if S|C could even generate a key even if they were inclined to do a favour but no harm asking I guess.

I have used the STS under XP32 on a dual setup though (PCI and XITE-1D).

Yet to try STS much on Win8.

yeah it's really strange. The STS worked fine for me on the PCI cards for years and even when I first tried the dual config but something changed and i cannot figure out what. Most likely something got crossed over on the 2 installs. I might check with SC for a new Volksampler key. They have a file on their server that I downloaded but none of my keys work. No biggie though, I would rather have the dual config and sacrifice the STS. I can always just reconvert my sample bank to any of the other formats and use one of the many free vst sample players.
Thanks for the help.

Why the dual config in the first place?

I don't know if this might be a solution for you, but here I go:
I'm running an Xite and a PCI system on the same windows 7 installation.
XITE is running Scope v5.1
The PCI-cards are running Scope v4.5 - The reason for this is to avoid bugs in Zarg plugins introduced with Scope 5.0 + 5.1.

If the above is not a solution for you, you could have a look at this free sampler: http://www.vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php

Good luck

Well I've got the Xite on 5.1 and PCI on 5.0, haven't had any problems with the Zarg synths (RotorEX,QWSE)
Shortcircuit looks great, I did look at that the other day but from what I understand it only imports Akai 5000-6000 series so I'd still have to convert the batch. (incidentally it's all on my hard drive thru the process that Dante laid out) Would rather not go thru all that again with each individual disk but may end up with no other option.

The problem I've encountered is also in the quantumwave (I have the full version though). There's a description of the problem here:

Update: Good news! I did a fresh install of the Xite-1 5.1 32bit over the existing install and now it works again (with Scope PCI running in parallel). I have not verified but i suspect if I were to try and open the STS in the PCI side the error would return. For now I will be happy just to have it running on the Xite so I will leave it as is.
Down the road I know my curiosity will get the best of me and I will then resurrect this thread with more info.

as always, thanks for the input my brothers
