Insert fx buttons SFP don't work - Solved!

Post by hubird »

I have a strange problem in SFP: the fx insert buttons on all mixers don't react at all.
This is for some time already, and I got used to work around it by putting the insert effects in the project window.
Which is annoying, so I wanne get rid of this strange behaviour.

Should there be an insert mainmenu folder in SFP?
Yet it's not that the effects aren't found, the buttons don't do anything!
And I don't have a clue where to start to repair this.

I removed all old installs and backups from the computer, removed all files in the extensions folder and the Preferences folder, made a new install with newly installed drivers.
No succes.

The mac with the cards runs on OS9.2.2, and the system is reinstalled a while ago.
I had the inserts problem already befor that, so I hope you guys have a trick.
I don't think it's mac related, as SFP runs kinda in it's own environment or shell, at least it does look so with that own menu strip.

for auxs or for channels?

i really don't recommend using inserts on an aux. i haven't heard of a problem on the channels...

inserts for channels or master channels.
I can't load a Optimaster in Master Mix out, or any insert fx in any channel slot.
Weird eh?
Normally you double-click on an insert 'slot' (graphically, in the 24/48 mixer), and you'd expect a list or browswer, but nothing happens.

i'd rerun the installer. there's something corrupt. pep file maybe?

rebuilding the project does nothing right?

no, I deleted all content from the installer startup window, and took the 24/48 with 1 time Adat connected, nothing.
The same for all other mixers.
Could it have something to do with XTC?
I never used it tho.

thanks for your interest :-)
zzzzzzzz now...

deleted all devices from the installer window?

pep files are nothing for you to mess with. it's possible that a file connected with the gui has become corrupt, that why i recommended rerunning the installer.

you shouldn't need to do anything with those addresses. a computer is a big file cabinet. if the files are in tact and in place, it MUST work.

by the way, on a pc, you right click to use an insert. are you sure you don't cntrl click or something like that?

For some reason I overlooked the cntrl key, as I was overly focussed on double clicking...
Feel ashamed :-D
Slow progression of loss of problem solving capabilities not seeing the obvious?
Anyway, the only problem I had in my partly renewed 2mac setup has solved.
thanks gary :-)
