Took me two trips to the hardware store to restring this bass - firstly bought an eye hook attachment for the cordless drill, softened it's grooves with some gaff (nashua). Best, cheapest string winder.
2nd trip for the micro file set when i realised how fat these bastards are - (read the instructions first).

Thing is, this brings this beautiful '20s double bass into the fantastically playable league, all the tone of a master carved bass is there.
