Hi,
I need to know exactly which Scope ASIO source module to load for FL Studio 8, Mixcraft 6, Adobe Audition to play and record true 24bit sound. From what I read 32bit float is a digital representation of 24 bit sound. Currently the only device that plays true 24bit sound on my computer is Winamp with its waveOut driver. The DirectSound driver sounds very cold compared to waveOut. It's like Quicktime compared to Amarra on a Mac. I think that's why anything that uses DirectX sounds terrible, like mp3 compared to wav.
The sources I can load are:
ASIO Source (probably generic)
ASIO 24bit
ASIO 1-32 Source 64
ASIO 1-Flt Source 64
ASIO 2-24bit Source
ASIO 2-32 Source 64
ASIO 2 Flt Source 64
Also, does the ASIO 2 driver have any other advantages over ASIO 1 except for punch in/out recording ability. I have 10 DSPs in my PC now.
Scope 4.5 and FL Studio 24bit Playback and Recording. HOW???
Re: Scope 4.5 and FL Studio 24bit Playback and Recording. HO
Direct Sound is messing with samplerate and data, that's why it sounds sh*tty
imho this is not related to any bitrate at all
... but applications may interpret (and treat) different digital numeric formats in different ways
which is a rather case specific issue, hard to generalize...
cheers, Tom

Thank you Tom. I'm glad I wasn't just hallucinating.astroman wrote:Direct Sound is messing with samplerate and data, that's why it sounds sh*tty

actually people here seem to have quite some persistence in hallucinating...
it's been ever since the 'sound' of VDAT has been discussed
you start hearing things that cannot be there
try a search on the topic if curiosity strikes you
I for one don't mind it anymore
there are so many ways to spoil a sound in some cool and spicey way
... but you have my full sympathy as you might have to deal with it on a professional level
cheers, Tom
