my musical crack
Whatever that means.. the Lupin the Third themes by Yuji Ohno is sort of an addiction for me. Pure bliss every time

Minor reharmonizing here and there are very tasteful and stylish. I want this guy's horn section, strings section, rhythm section, vibraphone guy, and his arrangement skills. Yup, pretty much everything. It's still unbelievable that these are soundtracks for a anime show. I mean, a legendary anime show, but still.. anime.

Re: my musical crack
iirc I enjoyed a couple of episodes when MTV (or VIVA ?) still had something to call 'program'
didn't know it had such a long run
but it's perfectly in style:
here's what came up with Blaxploitation as search term, oops Isaac Hayes ???
Two (or three) Tough Guys
these movies featured great tunes, Superfly (Curtis Mayfield) among my top favourites
btw it's partly source of my addiction to Fender basses, Precision in particular (the other one is Motown)
cheers, Tom

19th century Katsushika Hokusai, manga, the typical pensil style, big eyes, big heads, exaggerated long legs, kute-ish styled girls...it's all new to me, tho the style somehow looks familiar to me, which could be caused by post-WWII influences from America, according to Wiki.
@ Tom, you're obviously familiar with anime: an apparently well known anime title from the 50-ties/60-ties would be Tetsuwan Atomu from late godfather Osamu Tezuka, in translation 'Astro Boy'.
Grown up the title hero would be called Astro Man today, or...?
PS. The picture of a girl in 'typical' Japanese street fashion style I posted in the Oktoberfest thread made me think...or is the association with the anime style too wild?
sorry for uploading twice, just for your convenience:

Re: my musical crack
ya, I can swear I've never seen anyone dressed like that on the streets. Tho goth lolita comes pretty close in terms of whackiness, and there's plenty of those on the streets. Mostly pre college adolescents tho. They're usually somewhat of a castout with awkward social behavior. (ones that'd get picked on) Seems the goth lolita identity keeps them safe and sort of unapproachable. Coincidentally, a lot of these outcasts are very much into anime, so the crossover is definitely not an accident.

edit: eh...I was reacting to the pics of Ken, haha

to be honest, the same for the pic above...

Wonderful arrangements Ken!
Amazing energy and enthusiasm they have, I really enjoyed listening at them.
I would say they come from the “007 musical school” beginning with the fist James Bond agent, Orchestral Jazz at its purest level.
Now, those men swimwear are for real freaky pinky ones!
Thank you, but no, thank you!
