freeze and hiss when touching stm eq --solved--

Hello
I've just try my setup with my band, but when I tried to move some eq from the stm 4896, The system freeze and there's a big hiss in the machine, I must reboot.
Can it be heat ? Because it's very hot in the room when we are playing (lot of work to isolate the room) :)
Or do you know what I can do to avoid this problem (apart not moving eq :) )
Thanks !

Ok, solved!
It was the Vinco loaded into channel insert.
When I put it off, the eq works again without freeze and hiss.
As I had the same freeze problem with the masterverb classic into the insert mix, I found it quickly :)

is that an old project made in v4? do you have v4 and v5 folders both on the same pc?

Since you told me to install only scope 5.0, I have reinstalled windows and scope.
It's a new project made with v5.
I've found a topic which said that the insert Vinco bug on v5 was known by Sonic Core.

i didn't know about it, but i gues i do now. i haven't had any problem on my end, but i don't doubt your experience.

Noise when loading specific devices (audio example)

Can somebody help me please ?
i have again the same problem:
When I load a reverb , or something like psyQ or vinco, whatever the way I load it (insert into the stm4896 mix/channel, or direct to aux or to a channel), a terrible noise can happend suddenly, after 1 or 2 hours, sometimes less.
I've recorded it with my phone:
http://gcluber.free.fr/video1.mp4
It happens only when loading and insert some specific devices.
I made a mistake and I don't think this one is known by somebody at Sonic Core...
Do you think it can be a ram problem ? or a card problem ? I hope it's not the case :(

Sounds like some kinda mid range feedback to me. You sure there's no loop somewhere in your system ?

If not, then maybe try your Scope setup on another DAW, to try to isolate the problem to either the Scope hardware or the host system. That's if GaryB doesnt have any better (easier) suggestion. And take the word 'solved' out of the topic header :)

ooooh! yuck! that's nasty!

it could be feedback, maybe software monitoring is activated on a track in the sequencer(i'd guess not). maybe there's some other issue corrupting the plugin. if you removed the offending plugin and then replace it, does it work correctly then?

Hello Gary !
Yes, that's really bad, and it's the worst enemy of my band !
they're going to kill me if i destroy again their ears :)
When I unload the device, it's ok, but when i reload it it comes again.
But i've decided to look closely to the cards to see if there were something with the capacitors, but nothing appears.
I've reseat the cards and move 2 of them (1scope+2pulsar2), and cleaned the stdm connections (cables and cards), because sometimes, the noise is linked to "a communication error with Scope (brd 0) has occured". Sometimes I have just to change the samplerate and it comes back, but sometimes it leads to ""lost asio" into samplitude and freezing scope.
2 of my cards have now their own IRQ, include the scope one.

I've seen on this forum that dynamixii had exactly the same problem weeks ago:
http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php ... s+occured.
You said that the cards may need to be clean (I clean them 3 times this month...:)), but you suggest that the card could be broken...In his case, he managed to make his 3 cards work by cooling them.
So I just try to fan cool them too, because I know sometimes it's so hot...(I don't close the pc box, but it seems it couldn't be enough).
Since it's done, it seems that i haven't got anymore this noise...must wait to see...I've had strange behavior after that moment, but after some modules and projects reloading, it's gone...
But when I reseated the cards, I've seen that the plastic protection had been badly injured and deformed by heat...(one of them has even turning white near a nylon screw,...Ouch...I've changed them with a new piece of plastic.
I hope the card is ok :( If not, it will explain some the troubles I have since many weeks with my setup.

I don't know if the software monitoring is active in Samplitude I choose the mixer fx monitoring (so i think it's ok):

Maybe something inside my routing (I don't think so)

Yeah I thought about this after my last post about you saying the problem occurs after 1 or 2 hours - thats prime indicator of a heat issue (when the cards work cold but not when warmed up) which cooling fans can address.

I didn't think those cards could heat to this point :(
I think it's gone, because loading masterverb into aux don't lead to this noise anymore, since half a day now, and i can load much more effects during a long period.
The fact that the transparent plastic on the cards had turning white means that my baby had bad days...I couldn't anymore replug the cards in the pci slots as they were so much deformed.
At first I thought that the stdm cables were defective.

Edit: dynamixii didn't solve his problem wiith extra cooling ( it wasn't him). But he had exactly the same problem, and the fact that it could be hardware was really bad news...
Thanks Dante ! (I tried to change the topic title but I can't :) ) concerning the feedback eventuality, i don't know at all, since I'm new on Samplitude, maybe there's something wrong :(
But I had this problem when I was using Ableton weeks ago.

I'm not sure it's ok now, and can only see the result of the cooling fan by loading the devices which made the problem occured, and use the setup as usual.

yes, heat is a real candidate for odd trouble...
