hi all
im returning (or throwing) a broken pulsar i bought and
im thinking about buying from this other guy who wants to sell me
pulsar 2 + some mysterious expansion card. (the guy doesnt know what expansion card is it, and the keys take forever to return, im still waiting for the broken pulsar keys, almost 3 weeks)
im not sure i need it, but he wont sell it seperatly.
the thing is, im affraid of scope not being stable so i use it on a seperate machine for
synth only. specifically i believe i would use the modular 2 only. (total routing freedom, yeah!)
so im asking myself, do i really need a 15 dsp expansion for the impressive 6 that i have to synth?
so, to wrap up my questions:
1) is there a physical difference between power pulsar and the pulsar SP (id like to know im buying a license for all the products so i wont synth with only a wave shape and LP)?
2) can i run external vst (like Native instruments) on the dsp (that way i could possible use this tremendous amount of dsp)?
3) am i a jerk for thinking only about the modular 2 as my option to use this card?
4) why do i need so much dsp?
5) is this the bargin of my life (500$ for pulsar 2+mystry card of 15 dsp)
physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
Re: physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
hi all
the guy send my photos of the pulsar 2 + mystery card.
so what card is it?

Re: physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
whoever you buy from should give you the keys.
that looks like a first generation Scope card. it won't work as well as a 2nd generation card like the Pulsar2, but extra dsp is pretty cool.
stability? Scope is like a rock if the machine is setup correctly and the card isn't broken. can you crash it? sure, it's part of a computer system. what will crash it is known and repeatable, so if you have problems, they're likely your fault and more than avoidable. in normal use, it's the most stable thing in my computer.

No, only software written for the SCOPE system will run on the DSP's
AD3)
If the modular 2 is your entry point of interest, no - You'll propably figure out other exciting features about the SCOPE system as you go along
AD4)
DSP's are like heroin
AD5)
If the cards works it does sound like a very fine price to me and you will have a very powerful system for years to come.
Re: physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
i am planning to install it on an old machine with xp and no sequencer to be used.
so this is not an S/P or power pulsar? what does it mean 1st generation? how many dsp does a scope card has, this looks like about 10 dsp.
and does anybody has a serious answer about the "why do i need dsp?" question. i know it sounds dumb, but i would appreciate a serious answer

Re: physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
why do you need dsps?
to run realtime audio devices!
it's 15 dsps.

Re: physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
nice.
so my last two qeustions (hopefully)...
1)a realtime audio devices is... synths and effects. right?
and
2)so this is called a scope card? not a power pulsar or S/P?
does it have a special bundle (effects, synth or other licenses that come with it?)

Re: physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
who knows what it has registered to it?
the current owner should. he should have the keyfile, too.
ALL Scope devices are realtime. DSPs=HARDWARE, not software.
most hardware synths and fx run on DSPs. the computer is merely the gui.
Scope=high-end external hardware.
real gear is better than computers. computers are convienient and cheap.
Scope is the bridge between the two worlds. all Scope processes are realtime including getting in and out of Scope.
of course this only matters to those who care about doing real productions of the highest quality possible. if money were no object, and the musicians know how to play, then real hardware is the best choice. Scope is a way to get 99% of what real hardware can do without spending millions. a native solution can get the same quality, but not in real time and not for an entire mix, or even more than one or two synths.

Not just Synths and Effects.zoharar wrote:nice.

Synths + Effects + Mixers + Routing (Internal and External).
Re: physical difference between scopeS/P and power pulsar
thanks all! all my questions were answered.
im waiting for the keys to be sent since this guy has no idea what licneses he has.
