DSP limit on XITE! with 48 ch. ASIO ONLY!

Post by Inferman »

Hello there.

I think it could be solved already several times, but unfortunately I couldn't find the topic.

So, I have Xite-1 (18 DSP) and when I press 'new project', delete ALL windows in routing window except Control Room and then open ASIO1-32 Source 64 (with biggest latency 34ms in 44.1 mode) and set number of channels to 48... it writes me (pretty quickly) about DSP limit. Assignation to randomly chosen DSP this ASIO window makes no sense - it still "limit reached" :(

How so?

Thanx in advance!

UPD for concerneds: It seems, there was an issue with my old MB (LGA2011, I think) problem chip. It worked better with 1155 and so on :)

Upd. I can't even create 3 VDAT recorders in my default project with 12 ch. ASIO and 1632 :o

UUpd: ... even 3 VDAT in about empty routing window with 24ch. ASIO

Start building your project new.
Don´t use STM1632X mixer,- use STM2448X instead,- not all devices in SCOPE 5 / 5.1 are fully optimized for XITE units, so we have to wait for SCOPE 6 improvements.

1.)
Select default or NEW project w/ minimum configuration of hardware I/Os and basic MIDI and load.
Remove STM1632X mixer if it´s in that project already.
Save as p.ex. "my new project" and reload.

2.)
w/ auto DSP assignment load STM2448X

3.)
do the desired connections from SCOPE project hardware I/Os (ADAT / analog) and ASIO to STM2448X

4.)
If you need aux FX connected to STM2448X, load w/ auto DSP assignment and connect

5.)
Place VDAT(s) manually on DSP #2
(right clicking the VDAT devices after loading these into the project window, there´s a pulldown menue you can choose the DSP from)

Save project w/ new name, re-load and see if that works.
If not, start all new by selecting and loading your "my new project" file and swap 4.) and 5.),- means load the VDAT(s) before you load the aux FX (I can´t remember what I did 1st,- the aux FX or the VDAT).
It should be possible to run up to 3 VDAT on DSP #2.

Save the project under new name, p. ex. "my VDAT_ASIO" and re-load.

That´s how it works for me w/ Win XP Pro SP3 32Bit.

If you´re using Win 7, make sure you run SCOPE in administrator mode.

If you are on Win 64Bit, I have no clue,- 32Bit only here.

Read attached file (quote from Ralf)

good luck

24 Channels of VDAT is a crapshoot, 16 is a cinch, I use smakk micro mixers to gang no more than 2 i nsturment to extend the channels, usually vocals or drums which I orefer hard oanning anyways.
The STM 1632 X works w/ 4 x AUXs and several effect but too many ASIO outs causes errors.
Which leads me to believe that the STM 2448 is the best choice for mixng in the XITE-1 as that mixer can take a massive load of plugs, more than I ever need.
VDATs need to be on a certain DSP, but after assigning the DSPs and they accept the adjustment, as long as you're not adding more on that same chip leave it alone.
But with any synths, etc. on the XBox assign DSPs to the lowest numbers on the meter, then clear the assignment so thay may span across the newer chips better.
Thankfully the reviewers all used the STM 2448 X as their mixer instead of the STM 1532 X or they would have seen the trouble it has using all direct outs.
The 2448 was obviously really optimized well and uses less DSP then the 1632.
You can even see it in the meter as plugs are loaded.

It's clear for me about VDAT and using STM 2448, thanx, guys, I'll follow advices.

You see all I need is "render" 24 stereo channels in Cubase project to separate files.
As far as I know there is no such option like "mixdown each channel in separate file" in Cubase so I decided to do it with VDATs instead of x24 times of mixdown each chennel in solo.

Upd:
Assigning VDAT to first DSPs I've created 48ch ASIO-1 32 source connected both with 6 VDATs and STM2448 without any problems in 48kHz mode :)
