Filter Types of High / Low Cut EQs

Post by ARCADIOS »

Hello

STM mixers channels have the nice feature of up to 48db high or Low cut eq..(which does not exist in scopes 4band EQ effect module..It has only 12db cut...anyway)

Is there any EQ that has the ability to cut more than 48db?
Something like absolute vertical line Cut...if I can use this expression.

The 8 pole (48 dB/oct) filter is the sharpest, I have seen in Scope. You can put two in line for a 96 dB/oct LR filter.

Seeing that the filters there are all in 12 dB/oct intervals - and it says L R on top of them on both sides - I wonder if those are 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 pole filters, or if they are LR filters meaning double 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. I have not tried the device. It should give an indication, if the filterpoint is 3 or 6 dB down.

duh...no doubt that i'm an idiot.

48db is pretty much a straight line. bad things happen in a filter over 24db. 48db is pretty steep. i'm sure that there are steeper filters, but they might not actually be that musical. the steeper the filter, the higher the phase distortion and other icky things...

now someone will tell me of a 100db per octave filter that they use that's awesome...
