Missing VU modes

Post by Mr Arkadin »

Whilst setting up a mix I noticed my fader wasn't affecting thr VU meter. I generally mix so that faders are at 'zero' and then adjust the input level (I know this is naughty, but this is how we used to do it in post production), so I have not noticed this behaviour before, plus this is my first proper mix on XITE-1.

Anyway I assumed that my VU meter must be pre-fader, so I went to change it and... oh, I seem to have only Post Gain and Post Inserts as options. What happened to the other options, especially Post Fader?

This is STM 4896 X on Scope 5.1 on XITE-1.

Yes... In Xite STM 2448, all the other meter mode disapeared !

In 5.1 pci version, there is still :
- in place
- post fader
- post insert
- post effect
- post gain

We miss them in Xite !!

There is something annoying else.. The STM2448 doesn't remember the midi controlers numbers when restarting a project : you need to save them in its midi controler preset and recall manualy ; it doesn't work with program change either.

Couldn't you enable the Direct outputs, drop a Meter device in the project, and have it point to the those to see post fader?

Yep. That was discussed elsewhere as well, and I think the bigmeter had some sort of issue as well altho cant remember what.

I can't be bothered with all that, I'll just use my ears.

What I miss in XITE / SCOPE software is:

Analyzer
K-System metering Peak/RMS
Phase Correlation Meter /Goniometer
Channel status
Bit statsitics & Noise

Using my RME card I always had the free Digicheck app (PC only) available which is excellent.
http://www.rme-audio.de/en_support_tech ... _digicheck
Now I wonder if there ´s something similar for XITE/SCOPE 5.1.

Otherwise I´d have to set up a 2nd machine w/ the RME card just only for the meters

Wolf sells the analyzer and phase correlation. i believe that tgstgs will have a phase correlation plugin as well. there was a free k-weighted meter by sharc and his brother, it's probably still around.

if you enter a good relationship with a SDK user, or if your get the SDK, it should be possible to make what you want.

Ha, thx !
That´s cool,- he´s in my hometown !
EUR 49.- isn´t much if it is good.

Do you use the Analyzer pack and do you use it on XITE ?

Some of the DAS plugs, and the BX Control have Phase Correlation meters built in.
