quantumcomputer a bit closer to reality?

Post by hubird »

nanoscience pioneer Leo Kouwenhoven approved the in 1937 already predicted majorana particle to be existent.
He explained the experimental settings tonight in a dutch talkshow, the man is dutch anyway.
Here's the outcome article from him in science journal Nature from 28 feb. '12:

Research financed by Microsoft, but according to the scientist 'the guys of Microsoft are very friendly, there are no conditions for their financial support, and the research in this stage at least is purely scientific anyway', free translated.

I'm a typical alpha, so my knowledge of quantum mechanics is just of popular-scientific level.
I occasionly just re-read Gary Zukav's The dancing Wu-Li Masters: an overview of the new Physics, 1982, time flies.
Just enough to understand what's so nice of the detection of the Majorana particle :-D

I think I wait a bit B4 exchanging my old G4 mac for a faster one, as I want a quantumcomputer.
I found the shop already hehe:
