Recursion without connection

Post by buzzr »

When I try to do feedback in Scope I always get this error message:

"Problem: Generates Recursion without connection delays"

I can do feedback with my G2 no problems there at all. Also with a hardware modular.

Anyway to get rid of this message?

Scope doesn't necessarily have delays in any of the devices. My understanding has been the G2 has at least 1 cycle delay per module (even mixers and such). I'd insert a module that has at least a 1 cycle delay to it, and it should be ok. Otherwise, the calculation engine doesn't 'know' when to stop calculations for the current sample period.

I put a delay module in between. That didn't work. Any other suggestions?

Does that delay module have a wet/dry? That would allow for a path that isn't buffered. I'm not near scope, so it won't be until tomorrow that I can take a look. I don't remember off hand what I did, but I had built my own feedback/filter just to see how it was. So it should be possible.

Maybe try taking a connection to an output & back in?

maybe the device heposted a bit down on the first page.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Ah, here it is. It is included with Mod III, so also accessible to Mod IV.

Look under Menu: Modifier > Converter > xMod&FbConverter

From the Manual:
Xmod & Feedback Connector
It can sometimes happen in a patch that you will create a feedback loop (recursive
connection). This could happen, for instance, when crossmodulating oscillators.
However, even if the signals are compatible, SCOPE 5 does not allow for direct
connection of signals if it creates a loop. If you are designing a patch in which modules
are to modulate each other mutually, and you get an error message, try inserting this
module between the modules. It should now work.

In SCOPE, on the LiveBar, go to [?], Manual, Synths, Modular III.

No real manual to speak of for Mod IV, other than the basic reference (not detailed).

This just points to the PDFs in SCOPE install directory, look for the Manual folder, then Synths.

Be sure to share patches ;) I've been distracted from the Modular for the past five months. I could use some inspiration to get back in :)
