SCOPE as an effect platform

Hello,

i think this might have been discussed before. but after reading up on the eventide.. (which is rather ridiculous that i havent done before), i see that the box is basically a modular system where you build up your algoritmes, then apply presets on top of that.

I started then to think.. could not our beloved scope system be some of the same? what is our biggest limitation? Mod4.. is that the way to go?! Or do we lack of modules in that "effect" area? I dont own the mod4 yet, only mod3.. but that could give me a good reason to get it .

Scope is very strong as an fx platform.
mod4 and Flexor have all kinds of possibilities, but even the stock fx can get pretty deep if you know what you are doing. the weakest points are in pitch correction and harmonizing.

Yes, minus the harmonizer - which I assume would be entirely possible (and awesome) in Scope if someone were to build one....

Meanwhile by building up chains of various Scope effects, in series and parallel, it's entirely possible to build some amazing Eventide-like effects in Scope.

In the meantime - I LOVE my Eventides.

I have played around a lot with effects lately. Its tons of possibility in the routing window, since you can patch output to several inputs and so on. But a proper harmonizer would be great. and a pitch correction tool as well.

Any suggested delays or tape delays that is a "must" for scope users? I hears some rumor about http://www.celmo.com/Tape_Echo_Sim_page.html being superb.
Is there any other , or is this the one to got?

well, as a Tape reverb addict Celmo's device is one of my all-time favourites.
Very resource effective and excellent Sound.
But to be precise it models an italian platter reverb (Meazzi ?)
It can be abused greatly for close distance effects (room and comb filtering)
Just set it to insane bpm speeds > 500 (goes up to 2000 or so) and experiment with head distance.

Echo3 by Spacef is a more complex approach, but Mehdi has his shop closed atm due to personal workload.
This can do really weird stuff, the most outstanding feature is control about self oscillating feedback.
You can drive it that hard, but it recovers from chaos.

Not to forget the Tape Echo module from Modular-4, but I found that a bit unreliable.
(as several of the more 'exotic' new modules, deep crashes)
Could be a personal issue, tho - I run Scope 5.1 under XP32

while we're at it...
Modular has a rather complicated preset handling, which can be extremely tricky if you're not familiar with it.
I'd second a new Effect's shell with simplyfied connections and easy presets handling (the full shell as it is)

I have grown sick and created a Modular IV Shell with Dual Tape Delays + FIlters + 12AX7 Tube.
In the Chain are Modular Inserts which house Celmo and SpaceF Delays.
A Standalone Delay that works nice also is Wolf Audio's Matrix Delay.
With the Modular a simple MIDI Prgm Chang message can gi ve me an array of sounds at anytime w.o waiting for loads, etc.
