Indeed, a voice with range and power and emotion to a degree VERY few have. Her and Mariah Carey were always compared and both had some of the most powerfullest voices in pop music. The 1980's was my favorite decade for most of the genres of music i like and i remember as a child when Whitney first came out and i was greatly impressed with her voice. She contributed to that music decade to a significant degree like many other great artists of that era and for me that decade was the highest point in music history. I think the first song i heard of her's was "You give good love" and then with her i was in love :P . Clive Davis had a true winner and legend on his hands cause Whitney rose to a level of success that VERY few have seen. I think she peaked in the 1990's with the movie Bodyguard and the Dolly Pardon song she remade "I will always love you". That song was the first song to be number 1 in all countries and she was a singer the whole world loved, and Whitney has sold over 170 million albums threw out her career wich is titanic. Sad to see a artist die who's music has impacted so many lives and the industry, especially when they die young. Very beautiful and talented woman. I also liked her 1990's song "My love is your love".

She's suppose to have a movie comming out soon called Sparkle i think where she plays a role that relates to here, a singer with a addiction. I know Whitney went to rehab several times but as many know addictions are extremely tuff to deal with. Hope she is at peace. I dislike most modern music thus it's horrible to see those with talent that i like pass and the industry has even less.

She had nothing but talent around her when you look at her background. Her mother Cissy Houston was a soul singer and Gospel singer, her aunt Dionne Warwick was a huge star in the music world and the legend Aritha Franklin was her God-mother. With all that talent around how can one go wrong :) ..
