Hello,
I work with Cubase SX3, Pulsar 2+ SFP 3.1c, and currently I do not have enough money
to upgrade this version to 5.1
I'm thinking to buy a computer : Intel i5 CPU with 3GB ram, but i have 2 dilemmas :
1. Wich motherboard is beter for pulsar,
Gigabyte GA H55M-S2 or ASUS P7P55 LX
2. Wich Windows to use with Scope 3.1c and Cubase SX3 (Win XP pro sp3 or
Win 7 32 bit ?)
(Excuse me for my english).
Thank you
Wich motherboard and Windows ?
Re: Wich motherboard and Windows ?
both motherboards SHOULD work, but you will need to check for irq sharing and will likely have to disable a usb controller or two.
your ONLY choice is XP with v3, really. you can run v4 for free, that might be worth considering.
personally, i might go ahead and get the v5.1 upgrade and go with a cheaper core2 duo or quad, maybe even a used motherboard and processor. you'll probably get near the same performance and you'd also get the option of running win7 32 or 64bit....

Re: Wich motherboard and Windows ?
I would like to do the free upgrade version from 3.1c to 4.0, as
you say, but question is that I've forgotten the user
name and my password in soniccore. Where can appear to do so
upgrade? In wich email of sonic core ?

Re: Wich motherboard and Windows ?
support.
just send the card's serial number and request v4 keys.
again, why the i5? there's NO advantage over a core2 for you, especially since you'll be using xp.
i am always amazed by those who spend too much on the pc and then say "i can't afford to upgrade the card". it doesn't make sense to me, but i guess i find the cards more useful than the computer itself, and others use their gear differently....

Re: Wich motherboard and Windows ?
Garyb is absolutely right I work on 3 ,2 cores (duo and quad) and an ASUS p55 Sabertooth all with soniccores and there is almost no difference for me in a professional environment.I truly believe that anyone on a low budget should look for a used or bargain quad core duo (preferably 8mb cache) cause they are stinking cheap ! The 64bit OS is where it is now.
