This is cross-referenced to the following article on mixing with Scope & Cubase in General Scope Discussion.

The track is up for comment but I also have a few Cubase/Wavelab related questions, the main purpose of uploading it.
Background to the track:
I stole the idea from a couple of 8-second sample loops on a purchased CD
I then reverse engineered and Recycled 3 of the sample loops, scrapped the rest and rebuilt the lot in Omnisphere, Stylus RMX, Trilian and Kontakt (a great learning curve).
Then I bent it all, extended it and turned it into the track below.
Youll note 2 versions here:
1. chillfactor1-01.mp3 was recorded to wav in Cubase 4.52 (& Scope). I then loaded it into Wavelab (4.1) and rendered it to mp3. Horrible top frequencies.

2. chillfactor1-02.mp3 was exported to mp3 in Cubase 4.52. This is the best version, still making use of Scope effects

what is alarming is that a lot of my tracks have been done by rendering in Wavelab, including using maximisers and so on.
If you have a listen to version 1 the higher frequencies sound horrible - almost out of phase but the better version 2 sounds about right.
Does anyone have any idea about this? Is it a Wavelab problem?
The next question is about normalising and this can equally relate to the thread in General Scope Discussion Forum

But I want this to be about Cubase really:
A: Do you Cubase users still use normalise on the individual tracks or final stereo track?
B: Do you use gain instead of normalise or isnt there any real difference?
C: In terms of exporting techniques I had all tracks mixed ready for export but they were only reaching -4db on the stereo mix. Instead of adjustiong each fader I simply went to the master fader channel on the mixer and added a gain of 4db to that before hitting export.
Is this an okay process or am I missing something? My ears are happy with it.
I suppose my final qwuestion is about the overall track.
I know I havent rolled off the bottom end enough on some tracks and the kik is poor.
Are the kik & bass too high in the mix? I have mixed feelings even though I am pleased with the separation, using Scope and so on.
How does it sound on your rig?
After a long time away from the music I have enjoyed the learning curve of doing this but I welcome input on techniques from everyone - perhaps then I will enjoy the next project even more.
