I got the advice to get an A8 from garyB here on the forum - initially I thought I could give it a try, if the price was right, unfortunately the communication was a bit confusing as we started to talk about an a16 and in the end I assumed I was going to get an a16, but opened the box today, it was still the a8 of the first post...
my fault I guess, anyway I decided I had to go 4 an a16 not an a8 cause I need the extra channels.
So here is your chance to grab an A8 in great condition (ok its used, but no functionality issues)
I A/Bed the device vs my RME Multiface. The multiface, while sounding smoother seems to dampen down mid and high range a bit, while low and seems to be equal to the A8
I never heard an A8 nor an A16 but I was surprised that this thing, even though being 18bit (well maybe thats the reason why) sounded so good. Actually I would use my A16 (the one im looking for now) for drums, if I were not to use it for control voltage (im going to have it modded). The DA sounds snappy and almost a tad grainy, but very sublty if at all, which makes the unit suitable for all drummy snappy stuff, would less use it for orchestral work though, but still vor pads as the slight suble graininess and the more detail in mid range to low high range sounds very appealing to me. Will use it for drums definately although I wanted to use it all for CV.
So if you look for a nice converter with character and a slight edge, go 4 my A8!

Second part:
given what you read, im looking for an a16 (non ultra) for hopefully not much more than I had my A8 for...Actually I thought I would be getting an A16 for the 140euros from gary, but it was a communication error, would have been a bargain though
So I dont know, throw in what you can offer for your a16 that is collecting dust somewhere cause you think you have way better converters
(or dont neeed so many IOs)------------------------------------------
Third Part:
I am looking for a pulsar Plus Plate, and since its hard to find someone selling a plate itself, I would also buy a board coming with the plus plate, doesnt really matter which one, of course the price should be like something that I could resell it later! I would just swap the plus plate with my classic plate and then sell the package to another happy user
