I'm slowly getting back on board with my Pulsar I & II configuration. Thanks to all of you for the valuable bits of info I've gathered here over the years about technical obstacles, configuration, etc.
I work with video editing as a hobby, and may be soon upgrading to the mystical world of HD video; many are recommending that I upgrade my P4-3.2 GHz - 2gig ram XP-pro system to a dual-core 64-bit system, to handle the rigors of HD video. I'm hoping to find an ATX motherboard that will fit my current footprint, so I can keep my current box with fasttrack raid/SATA array in place.
Anyway, if anyone has simple answers to these questions, would be much appreciated.
- I have a Pulsar I which I purchased (way back), about 1999, and a Pulsar II purchased around 2005, which I run in parallel. Can I still do so on a 64-bit system?
- Will my current SCOPE OS (4.0) run on a 64-bit system?
- If an upgrade to Sonic-core's latest SCOPE OS is necessary for 64-bit compatibility, which version do I need?
- Does anyone have a ballpark guess at the cost of the SCOPE upgrade necessary?
- Can anyone recommend a good ATX 64-bit motherboard that will work well with my Pulsar I & II (and perhaps, HD video to boot?)
BTW, I don't a lot of processor-intensive audio work ... at most a few tracks of stereo audio + a few midi at once. My HD video productions are not major works either, mainly short abstract & hobby pieces, so I don't the "Xeon-Of-Xeon's" as far as processing horsepower goes. This is more hobby-based, not professional sound studio.
