Version 3 - So what do you all think so far ?
Don't want to speak while I'm still all excited, but at first glance I think Version 3 is really going to give Pulsar a huge boost.
It looks good, runs smooth (so far) and has got some great extra devices - and I haven't even got the ProPack.
For me Projects load slower, but presets load much faster. Reverbs are sweet.
Version 3 could be just what we've all been waiting for ! Surely even CW will be able to sell this ?

Is the new big mixer still a "phasing nightmare"? I like the vectron player and the new reverbs. I haven't fully tested version 3. The SP-DIF dest module seems to be a big problem for me and many other people. I'm doing a clean install on a new computer and thanks to Creamware I am in IRQ hell although I should have that fixed soon. Creamware cards are the only modern cards that can not share IRQ numbers with other devices. This is my main complaint with Creamware. You really like the propack mixer a lot more than the big mixer? It simply sounds better? I wish I could just buy the mixer. I don't need the other things in the pro-pack.
hmm, my pci slots are full & the only problem I've ever had was with the network card (& that only took 5 minutes to fix). What's going on with it? Do you have multiple CW cards? No isa, right???
I've seen people mention the spdif issue but haven't had a problem w/ it myself in v3; I monitor digitally so I'd have noticed right away if there was something going on. What are you trying to send spdif out to?

The V3 is great. The Presets windows are friendly, it was a bad point in V2. The new synths are good. I have also the impression of larger sounds in stereo as well. Propack is definitely a good thing, pulsarmixer is a great value for bigmixer users : stereo channel (you can use real stereo inserts now ), 24 channels could be view on a single screen without swapping, the architecture is close to a real console, and it looks good.
Masterverb is quiet good, with a little work it makes value on a mix, delays especially the pattern delay is delicious, sync of midi clock is better than before (it works), well it's a succesfull update. Nothing more for STS (Individual outpouts not there, no more controllers) but we can't have everything at once. SPDIF seems to be a problem, I saw it very often on forums, but I never use it !! So I don't know.I forgot the windows to select synths, devices and evrything are also a good ideas. Screen sets are a definitely excellent idea. Link to logic screen sets, swaps beetween the two are easier.

FINE
now it seems to get what it should have been from the beginning
))
i only had 2 hours gaming on that new v3 but it made fun from the beginning - well looking, a good overview now!
well, i´m surprised that it seems to make that big step ... nice sounds and handling of all that folders around ...
so far: FINE!

just installed it - very cool!
the interface is fast and improved.
i have trouble using the drop down menus though - they disappear too quickly! unusable! and i cannot see big mixer(?)
prisma is a nice girl!
the dynamic mixer is a pleasant surprise. a happy medium between BM and dynamixer (and stereo!).
that is all for my initial thoughts . . .

Really cool, I like almost everything new and improved in the mac version (somebody may say - hey, you previously crititized 3.0 - yes, but I only talked about bugs). And even modules which previously appeared with graphic errors now appear properly!!! Unfortunatelly I (Pulsar I user) MUST use the spdif-in as a sync source but Can't do it now... In other terms I would give 9/10 points for 3.0 but until the bug correction I can only give 5/10.

yeah, as I said before, the mixer section is really hot for me. Plus the effects.. the little things that weren't there before. I always had the impression that many of the 3rd party products were a little over weight with features.. ya know, cuz they're products and I respect that. But when you need something small and cheap (dsp), we didn't have much of a selection. Or had to go hunting for them.
So I'd say the entire Pulsar package is now more complete even at its out-of-the-box state. But ya know, somethings never change.. the 3rd party plugins still KICK ASS! The community KICKS ASS! It's exactly these things that a new pulsar user unknowingly gets along with a great piece of hardware. Wow, I just flew off the topic here.. hehe.

I am very impressed with V3.0 so far. Which isn't very far, because I've only been playing with it for an hour or two. Running some of the new synths (which will keep me occupied for some time), and running Rebirth through it testing the fx and mixer. I don't know what they did with the sound, maybe some little fairies inside the software, but it seems to sound much, much better than the previous version. More punchy, better defined, very nice Creamware!
The only thing is, I only have 4 DSP's! NOT ENOUGH!!! I'll go sell my granny for a Pulsar 2 SRB now!
No seriously!

I don't want to sound like a party pooper but I really didn't realize any significant differences in sound quality itself... I've heard a couple of other people saying that the sound quality has been enhanced... I honestly can't tell. Are there any new technology/software developements that I don't know about that may have caused improments in sound quality?I don't know what they did with the sound, maybe some little fairies inside the software, but it seems to sound much, much better than the previous version. More punchy, better defined, very nice Creamware!
Also, one of the more strange things I'm hearing is that the v3 mixer sounds "better" than the v2 big mixer... Well, I may be wrong but I'm inclined to believe that as far as we're in the digital domain and the signal remains untouched... the sound shouldn't change at all.. in other words, the mixer remains transparent in the signal path. But perhaps there have been improvements in software code, I won't try to sound over confident. I can understand that synths may sound better or refined, they probably actually reworked them... but MIXERS??
If the sound quality has actually been enhanced. GREAT!!
