I just joined Google Wave and I was thinking this would be good for music collaboration. Maximum upload size is 20 megs like Gmail so I guess storage is 5 gigs like Gmail but that would be per person in the wave so it's plenty for loops. Google Wave is an email, forum, chat tool. It's exact purpose may be decided by users. There are plugins called "gadgets" I think. It will sync with blogs and it is just very innovative.
I know people will raise privacy issues about Google. We all have thought about that so there is no need to complain about it here. It's a choice some of us make.
This video explains Google Wave:

For music collaboration I would like this more than service Indaba. It's much better engineered and there is less clutter.

Re: Google Wave (A Collaberation Tool)
looks too toyish.
I prefer Indaba's inline recording tool. I've already tested it with a vocalist friend, and it works well.
I ignore the clutter and I don't add any junk on my personal page.
Google is obviously catering to everybody in the world, so they'll probably be successful.

That Indaba sequencer looks primitive to me. I can't see what advantage there is to it other than that everyone is using the same thing. It always seems at those sites that they are mostly people who remix rather than actually play an instrument. Isn't Indaba limited in file types? I like that Google allows any file type you want to upload. That gives you more freedom. I tested it by uploading a dll VST file.

Re: Google Wave (A Collaberation Tool)
Indaba is at least simple enough to use for whole songs. Yes, so far people have mostly uploaded a track and others have posted remixes or laid down additional tracks. The interface doesn't bother me if it works. I was surprised one day to go up on Indaba and someone had laid down a cello track over a friends' track that he had posted.
So, collaboration can be non-linear or real-time. For real-time I actually prefer Ninjam, but of course there's no centralized workspace, and you have to go grab the recorded track afterwards.
Over the Summer 5 of us jammed on Stillstream in real-time, and it worked great - but it's designed to be more transparent.
Indaba allows for a more simple DAW type collaboration, but the tradeoff is that it's not designed for raw file transfers like the gwave.
Different strokes for different folks I guess...

But wehy are you posting your feedback here? When it comes to qualified feedback Google will surely see what they can do about it.

Google Wave is actually open source software and doesn't even have to be hosted by Google. The question may actually be, what will other people do with it? Unlike other Google projects, they seem to have a deep commitment to this. I am posting this here because this is the "Off Topic" section.
Re: Google Wave (A Collaberation Tool)
That was not the point
But you should have mailed google as well, they ask for input on this project.

Google already knows everything everyone types on the internet and now voice mail

That`s probably too much input
