Is a 300 Watt fanless PSU for Magma 4 PCI Expansion enough?

Post by helldriver »

Hi, I want to replace my MAGMA 4 PCI Expansion Box noisy PSU to a fanless PSU. Since the original has 500 Watt and the fanless has 300 Watt I´m just asking myself whether 300 Watts are enough to provide 1 Scope 14dsp and 3 UAD-1s.
What do you think?
How much power does a single Scope 14dsp and UAD-1 consume?
thx in advance

Don't know the exact power ratings of the cards, but I had 2x15DSP + 1x6DSP on a 3 slot magma (well, you remember that ;)) running on a 12v 100W Pico PSU...

I'm pretty sure the power consumption is nowhere near that of a PC, especially a desktop unit. I think you'll do fine with the 300W PSU

Cheerz!!

The maximum power allowed per pci card is 25 watts
plus whatever the magma itself uses

so you should be fine.
