testing out the wavedrum thing. Just some vanilla ethnic stuff with a lyrical strings passage.
The overall sound is good, but you need to layer many percussion tracks to get enough sonic variation. Which I guess is pretty much true for any percussion track. I need to program the wavedrum so it's just a generic "percussion" device, rather that it being tied to hand drums or a stick + head / rim structure. It's an awesome way to trigger samples no doubt, but its sounds are centered around "drums", and not enough percussion nick nacks like finger cymbals, a good maracas patch, etc. They do have really good conga/bongo, timbales, etc which is obviously closer to the developer's intentions.
Percussion track uses (as far as I can remember)
1. djembe patch triggered with hand
2. viking war machine (some membrane drum) triggered with sticks
3. taiko drums, triggered with sticks
4. I forgot what this one was
5. maracas.. which really is just 1 sample.
it's been a while since I played any percussion.. gotta brush up my timing.
