Cos & void synth

Post by JoPo »

Hi..

One year ago, I bought the cos & void synth because the MP3 demos were nice. And I never could use them on my old pci boards ! They sound like my feet. Now, I have my xite-1 and I realized that it is exactly the same shit : the sounds are unhearable ! I feel that I made swindled. Or maybe an update will come ?

I don't understand why SC still have those unfinished synth in the web shop. 348 € for 2 shits unusable, I find this a little bit expensive......

When an update to have synth wich sound like in the mp3 demos ??

Yes but just look good !

They'll maybe release an update one day and it will sound something... But it takes too much time ! They should update them long time ago ; and SC should force "sur-audio lab" to work on them for remaining on the shop.

Anyway, I made this thread to warn those who would like to spend their money in new synths to go to see somewhere else.

Cant comment on Cos but I bought Void as well when it first came out and yes it was buggy. It did get at least one update which improved things - made it usable for me at least (although I havent been a heavy user of it).

It can make some nice sounds though.

I had my xite-1 about 1 or 2 months ago so I made a fresh scope 5 install with a new key file for the 3rd part plugs. So I believe that the void & cos are updated with there last code...

How did you get this void update ? Because I remember to have asked for it to SC support when I bought them and realized the swindle.

I got Viod when it 1st came out. Still have the first file - dated 15/06/07

A few weeks after that it was announced on SC website or Planet Z (cant remember which) that it had been updated. That file is dated 15/08/07

Actually, I thought Cos had a crude rather amateurish interface....I wasn't interested in them when they came out and thought they were overpriced

Disaster buy.., the keys higher to the right don't even sound, that's the reason people use pirated stuff...., it also was a low time in scopes history, they made it thru the cracks and made alot of money off naive scope users at that time

welly, welly, well.... slippery ground :D

these synths were released after Adern, John Bowen, SpaceF and Wavelength had supplied a palette covering almost every aspect of sound generation.
I'm rather convinced the designer is kind of frustrated, too
it simply doesn't pay off, it hardly pays for the electricity bill, let alone the rent...
usually people buy that stuff bundled if at all

I also heard one of the synths 'live' in Frankfurt, and it did indeed nice sounds.
'Sounds like crap' seems way over the top to me - it may not hit your personal taste, but that's a different story...
According to 'my' personal taste there's a ton of superfluous stuff somewhere on the shelfs ---- snip ----

cheers, Tom

VOID never worked on my machine, it messed JB synths so I stopped trying to use it ... but I still have the key
