Music games - do you know any good ones?

Post by petal »

I've been interested in music games for a while, especially those that does something else with music than what we'he seen in guitar hero (which is a fun game) and singstar (which is also a fun game).

My latest find was a game called "Brainpipe". It's curious in a most psychadelic way, pretty easy to get into, and addictive in a strange and disturbing way.

You can find a free demo here:

I'd like to see more games experimenting with the musical and sound aspect of the experience. Have you seen anything interesting out there like that?

cheers
Thomas :)

I guess you are right on the "this is not a real music game"-part. Still I think this game is using audio and music in a not often seen kinda way.

But what would be a "true" music game in your opinion and do you have any examples you could point me to?

Well, you must have missed Hit Machine, the best online music game ever. Only because I made it. lol.

check it out:

We license tracks from indies artists. The charting is done all by musicians so it's a more interesting than some of the other games. But it is a very traditional Beat Mania style game, not experimental like the more modern ones. Still, I think Hit Machine has some of the best graphics and charts.

Anyway, just thought it was interesting a thread like this popped up on Z, right after we launched Hit Machine on Myspace.. it's still early in its launch phase on myspace, but you can get to it via the microscopic banner that says "HIT MACHINE" on this page:

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
