All Calfornians ....................

Post by dawman »

In tough times extra money is cool. I was thinking about Car Repo, Bounty Hunting or going to California and finding the Bastard who started those fires.
AaahNold says he has 100 Large for the capturing and convicting the Arsonist. I have to be here for the Telethon and then I have 2 weeks off, so I was thinking of heading over to catch this Rat Bastard.
I was wondering though if you guys have cashed any of those I.O.U.'s that the State has issued..?
I have to go to WaMu I believe to get mine cashed as they are only one of the few Banks where the checks are honored.
Do you think the reward money will be an I.O.U. or a regular Bounty Fee...?

Cheers.

I used to go camping right in the center of where that fire started, so for all we know (until fire department releases exact source of arson-fire) it was started by some drunk-ass camper.

Every year these fires get bigger and more distributed around the state, so does anyone benefit?

Last year I had ash falling on my front lawn all the down here at the beach, and I was STILL evacuated.
I was right in the middle of the Topanga/Malibu fires of '94. NOT fun.

Greg

p.s. oh, yeah... those IOU's. I don't know of ANY banks willing to honor funny-money. If the Schwanzennegger (Black River) had simply used gold-backed securities, then California coulda just seceded and started it's own economy. F* the Fed.

Cali should have done that 10 years ago when it was the #1 economy in the world, and then diversified beyond just Wall Street like any foreign business would that doesn't have a local (national) stock exchange in their own country. But now that it's taken it up the pokey from Enron while the tech industry was being (imo) milked on the stock market to finance our decade of 'fighting terrorism' (and Iraq?) it's a bit too late...

yeah, that phony "Energy Market" the made that had the boards showing what electricity was going for at the moment and we were supposed to be buying from at all the lowest prices ever, but was actually more fake than the off track betting parlor in "the Sting", took care of all that....

Well I'm thinking about the reports of calls to turn off entire power plants during the rolling blackouts, I was living there at the time and watched my electrical bill jump to close to $400/mo. It was enough that I started turning off almost everything in the house (it *was* a rather large house for 2 people I guess) and studio until after 9pm just to get the bill back under $300/mo. For comparison's sake my current electrical bill where I live now is $180/mo or so and I'm being charged about 1.5x what the rates were 5 years ago when I first left Cali & moved here. AND I have more gear & household electronics now too!

This is where those building 7 conspiracies crop up eh...

My father has played poker with the same guys for 50+ years and one guy was a Stock Broker who talked everybody into pooling their money into a new company called Kansas City Power & Lights years ago because Utilities go up every quarter.
When Hurricanes hit and cause blackouts KC&P would sell their electricity to help cover the recovery process.
Turns out that it was the best stock tip they ever got because CA. and many others would inflate the costs of energy as GaryB said, when actually it was a much lower price. But the stock holders have had split stock options a dozen times since the 70's when the stock became OP.
Turns out old Governor Gray Davis wasn't as bad as everyone thought.
I hope they catch the moron ( s ) who started this fire. It's bad enough that the property loss is always high, but when brave firemen are killed in the line of duty that becomes a criminal act.
Firemen are the only people who have earned the right to put " To Protect & Serve " on the side of their vehicles. You don't see them harassing citizens or shaking them down for cash. They simply show up and help. The True hero's IMHO.
LAPD has no right to use that slogan on their decals.
It should say " We'll Treat You Like A King "............yeah, Rodney King maybe... :o

yeah, and I was caught in that dot-com bubble fiasco. Working at companies while being a millionaire - on paper - only to watch it fly away.

I also made it through the Enronification of CA somehow.

The next shim-sham is going to be control over water supply - even more than it is now.

I guess it's time to take my studio and retire somewhere cheap. Either that or become a grower

Hm, probably one who wanted some extra money from his fire insurance. It`s a pity that capital means more than life.
