Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
Does anyone use this synth or Reverbs..?
I can't even tell who made this awesome synth. Very good sound and design.
I just discovered the Verbs, and they are outstanding.
There's no MIDI CC controls, and they cannot be inserted, but as external AUX connected effects they are awesome.
On the PT-Free-96k and the PT-2012 I get a pop up that the SRAM has been accessed...?
I am not sure if it is and have no way to prove it but the Decay and Amount knobs have zero artifiacts when these knobs are moved.
I realize most guys don't do this but I like have less Decay on a Rhodes for the softer velocitites and having hard velocities bring up the Room Size, or even just slamming up the Reverb Amount at abrupt endings, especially Horn Stacattos.
Of course I like the A100, and DAS 224, but these verbs are just gorgeous and will keep me from making a hardware purchase until someone gets SDK 5.0 and uses a RAM based Reverb, or hardware for that matter.
Then this synth Level One is immense in color and FAT.
It is a beautiful synth capable of PPG 2.3/Waldorf sounds, but adds a serious Virus style hard edge, similar to Hummels Lo-Fi which is a giant FAT BASTARD and works incedibly well in XITE-1 also.
I was impressed with many old synths and effects I tried out this weekend, and very relieved to see the new Version 5.0 preset list pooping up instead of the old blue tiny assed square.
Also found some ancient SpaceF stuff from 2000.............!! Damn he's been around for a while now, no wonder his shit is so functional in it's design. The ancient STS mixer of his is really small and purpose orientated, but still pretty nice to have.

Here's some more info about Paul Tanti, the man behind the reverb devices:

Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
I am trying to get the bundle if possible because I am using the cheap ones and they kick major Booty.
I emailed Senor Pauli T. and the email was returned....said user UnBlown.....amkyu.
On well I use the cheapos and jam on until somebody builds a RAM/DSP based model........I was thinking maybe Casey from Bricasti would jump in............Shoot high I say.

Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
I bought these fine verbs years ago, and still have some parked in my main mixdown project for use with vocal tracks.

Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
here you go Jimmy if you haven't found it, the midizers freebie works for midi'ing up the pt verbs according to Pauls write up, thought you might find it useful

Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
was the level one synth a freebie?
I don't think I have it, I lost a harddrive with most of the stuff off of the Steckenleiter archive and some of my really old freebies a little while ago and although I never used it all, all the time, I did like to delve in from time to time on some of those older bits.
I think I will pop onto the archive and grab some stuff again

Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
its funny people are liking these reverbs or rediscovering them now, ....Paul was a perfectionist when it came to reverbs, ..Hans zimmerman had , and may still have some of his designs, .....he really knew scope inside and out and could make the platform sing, he mixed a couple of songs for me resulting in a very warm sound to say the least
Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
My Favorite is the P100 because I don't need to use a gate with it.
It's parameters have excellent gating abilities, and sounds fine during the decay.
The PT-Free-96k is a great sounding reverb but needs to be gated, but has a great sound for this type of use.
I have 2 different Gates I use that are far superior to the stock devices.
The DAS SC Gate is a keyed Gate w/ Sidechaing, so 1 x PT96k is routed to that AUX.
The other PT96k gets the DAS C350 because it has great dynamics and EQ w/ 5 algo choices.
SpaceF AUX's are perfect fpr any stereo signals, and the wider the seperation, the better sound. So in the Master Effects inserts I use the SC Stereo Expander, and the Master IT M/S + EQ is the finshing touch.
Sometimes I am not allowed to use my own Barbetta stage monitors, and the Master IT EQ is a fine sounding EQ, actually it's my favorite.
I wish I could at least try out the PT 4 series Reverbs. The 96k and 2012 sound great so it makes me wonder what the top shelf models sound like.

Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
I am liking this reverb too.
I cannot adjust the time, but all other parameters are workable.
I have to find a preset with the desired time, then tweak the other parameters.

this is one of the very old dadev verbs, isn't it?XITE-1/4LIVE wrote:I am liking this reverb too.

Re: Level One and PT Reverbs Smoke
I just downloaded this yesterday from here.
Also worth getting is the incredible ADT device from Nuetron.
It's perfect for double tracking vocals and Guitars.
A regular Gate will work but the KeyFiltered Gate from DAS is perfect for shaping these reverbs all mentioned here. Most of them use the same DSP as the P100 except the PT-Free-96k.
I still think the P100 is the ultimate reverb for Scope.
I like having P100/A100's in 2 x AUX's and special reverbs shaped for solo instruments like the Rhodes since it has the Panning which detracts from the AUX verbs. The special verbs go directly on the channel inserts w/ a Gate and work perfectly.

I'm sure you read the numerous comments on pauls email address not being available anymore, and just forgot about it, didn't you?stardust wrote:I dont think so.kylie wrote: this is one of the very old dadev verbs, isn't it?

Though there is an email contact to Paul Tanti at http://www.innerverse.com/earlyfirst/default.asp

but you're right, the dadev / dspdev / nikkoid stuff doesn't seem to be available anymore. nikkoid.com still proves that he was the creator of the verb pro JV pictured above,
but neither the link to the scope plugins works (as a result of the following) nor the domain the picture points to is registered...
