What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
Looking at arpeggiators that track MIDI input in real-time or from sequencer.
None of this step-sequencer stuff.
Does Arpeg02 handle this?
Thanks,
Greg

Mod3 + 3rd party addons?

Re: What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
Greg,
Argeg02 will respond to midi imput from a keyboard, and I see no reason why it can't respond from a sequence, although I haven't tried that. I picked it up on one of the summer sales just for fun. I've really only noodled with it so can't give you a big picture of how it relates to a h/w arpegiator, but that is what it is modelled after. I think that the manual appears in the Scope folder, or is at least available from the ftp site.
Have you played with Arpeg01? I'm pretty sure it can also respond to keyboard/sequence input, although it's clunky in comparison to A02, and has fewer features (and is still stuck in the old-school preset mode).
Cheers,
Cory

Re: What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
All I can say is that I have tried Arpeg01/02, Cubase Arpache SX (which has some really interesting functions), some machine's as well but now I'm using Wolf's Sequencer since a few days and it is a nice step seq in scope.
I still lack some midi recording and some good pattern change with mouse without calling a preset though. If I had the space, I'll probably go with my HW Cyber6 keyboard but at the moment I am ashamed to say it is waiting under my bed to be used once more...
Thing to try indeed, is modular and flexor stuff but I'm giving it the time and mostly want to use that for modulation sequences.

Yes, I'm checking Modular and Flexor, but am not interested in any VST's.
I'm also testing my Axon AX-100 MIDI guitar interface to see if it actually outputs arpeggiated MIDI data, since apparently my old Roland GR-33 doesn't (even though it's internal arpeggiator is fairly decent).

Guitar arpeggiations are awesome tools in the right hands.
There's a guy in town who uses a Roland Space Echo and a Roland MV-30 which has an arpeggiator and built in phrase sequencer that's pretty cool.
I'll mess around with Flexor/BC Modular tonight and see what I come up with.
ARP 2 should be O.K. so I will see that too.
I use a Kurzweil Ribbon Controller for a 3 Zone Arpeggiator so I am not up to speed with software. I might find something cool.

Re: What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
Yeah, I toy with arp's for triggering drum 'sequences', and for layering in guitaristic, chord accompaniment underneath my playing. It's novel, but fun.
Same for keyboardists that want to emulate guitar chord-strumming type of loop sequences.
Just put the arp in left-hand section of keyboard map, and you have instant accompaniment.
I see that Arp02 comes with Scope5, but it doesn't demo.

Have you tried space f's LBH synths - you can make your own mini sequences and trigger them from your keyboard?

Re: What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
Sorry, but that's not what I'm looking for.
I want to play a chord on the guitar, and have the arpeggiator notes instantly remap themselves to follow the incoming MIDI notes.
Setting up a step-sequenced arpeggio and just triggering it with a MIDI note is not very interesting to me (and frankly a little 'old school'). It's cool, but not dynamic or real-time enough for what I want to do.
Too bad the Arp02 is not demo'able.

afair ralf said they can now generate time limited demo keys for almost everything, so why not trying to ask him...?!siriusbliss wrote:Too bad the Arp02 is not demo'able.![]()

Arp01 doesn't do what I need.
I've emailed Ralf for a temporary key.
Thanks again,
Greg

I'm startin to think 02 would behave w/external hardware...if anyone has used it...

Re: What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
I would look at Wolf's and Flexor/Mod personally. Not that I don't want to support S|C but I think that Arpeg02's functionality is just superseded by these now.
Re: What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
Thinking about things and limitations of Scope, I was thinking about :
One step sequencer is a plus to have in your more frequented environment (which is scope personaly at the moment) when you usually work with it and with quite an amount of devices at the same time, but it would be great for it to be completed with some live "motion" features, like being able to record your own external midi pattern into it (coming from some synth for instance) and maybe also being able to drag&drop some midi sequences (either midi file format or based on a preset) and to repro Cubase Arpache SX sequence mapping...
That led me to these questions: is scope compliant with midi recording (apparently not) and with drag&drop (probably not either)?
SDK Guys? Any thoughts?

Re: What's the best Scope arpeggiator?
Arpeg02 is the deal!
It does everything I need.
A great device that probably very few people have used
Lots of fun driving it into Prophet, Atze, and other synths.
I may post a brief demo later...

And of course 'newer/better' technology doesn't always invalidate older musical tools. Looking forward to your demo & impressions.

Yeah, just never had a desire (or need) to get the device until now.valis wrote:And of course 'newer/better' technology doesn't always invalidate older musical tools. Looking forward to your demo & impressions.
One think it's lacking so far is a GROOVE arpeggiation similar to what Omnisphere does - essentially combining a step sequencer with a real-time MIDI note capture. I'll be testing this with external clock at some point.
Greg
p.s. and yes, there's still plenty of life in those 10-year old synths
