Oh GREAT - like being addicted to crack

I already have Kontakt3.5, so I'm presuming all the free player and 3rd party libraries will play in the main K3.5, yes?

Yes they will, Kontakt Player is Kontakt....
The same lib in kontakt will give more access to edition.
The various modulators are also useable in KP, as you can drag them on the editor's parameters and use them for... 1/2 hour. But this depends on libraries, some of them won't allow this, other will without problems (KP2 libraries should not allow the functions, more recent libraies/KP3 libs should allow it without glitch, just drag and drop a modulator on the parameter to modulate (on the poti itself!)....

At the download link it says "demo." I'm afraid it's not free. I have seen the term "free download" used for a lot of demos meaning it's free to download it but the program is not free. Anyone install it yet? Also is this VST3?

They all play in K3 (I already have many of them).
I didn't test whether some of the libraries time out or not.

I doubt they are VST3.

As a demo it is just reduced functionality (limited library and limited editablity since it's the Player instead of full Kontakt.) It is indeed 'free' as in you can just download and use it. And I don't know if any of NI's stuff is VST3?

AFAIK only the Cubase hucksters have adopted so-called VST3 for some of their native plugins.
Not sure to what degree the rest of the industry has adopted VST3.
But what do I know... :P

VST3 greatly increases performance (as long as they are all VST3.) If you are not using VST3 in Cubase 5, it is better to convert that instrument or effect to an audio track.

Oh thank goodness, I was really needing a reason to upgrade all my plugins to the latest format.

Thankfully this NI plugin has a 64 bit version so I can use all my RAM. Any music software or hardware company which doesn't offer a 64 bit version isn't current. It would be a heinous mistake not to have 64 bits considering how much musicians can benefit from more RAM and considering how cheap RAM now is!

I think 3.0 & 3.5 are beautiful. I have noticed an improvement in the sound quality comapared to KP 2.0. Just the low end clarity. It's always had low end but it was rumbly and constantly needed EQ. I loaded it into the same channel and immediately removed the EQ.
The best part about 3.0 is the scripting and MIDI features. They are stellar IMHO.
I have just started using my F8 and foot pedals to see what possibilities I have.
Articulations are basically note on/offs so I can use 5 x footpedals to use my favorite articulations. Since I hardly ever bend notes on samplers the PBend is also useful.

Within Kontakt you can do an old favorite trick which is to take a very wide EQ, and assign the gain to be controlled by pitch-bend wheel AND velocity, so you can get very expressive with the samples......
This technique emulates pp & pm layers very convincingly.......
IMPORTANT.....in the picture notice that the EQ gain is @ "-4db"....that is so if you hit the strings at velocity 127, the gain will be @ "0 db"....In other words the curve is NEVER "boosted"........Ankyu.
