Classical Genius @ Comedy & Improv Victor Borge

Post by dawman »

I might be one of the few who really appreciate this type of comedy, but I was brought up in a regimented classical way of Piano playing, and actually the whole snobby appraoch and posturing of this particular style of playing is what makes this guy so hilarious.
People who usually reach this level of masterful playing are so far removed from social norms that comedy is a sin.
If you ever get a chance to see some of these pricelss DVD's and performances, they are a wealth of laughter and must be seen. I enjoy them as they poke fun at the snobby elite performers who actually think the words LAUGHing and FUCKing are 2 provinces in China.
I just watched the one with the some famous Soprano singer where he just makes so much fun of the Operatic vocals, etc. I almost cry watching these.
It's funny, but he is such an excellent Pianist yopu can't help watching and being captivated then all of a sudden he just does the craziest stuff.
If you have never seen this guy, do yourself a favor and have fun knowing that he's jacking off the Conductors and Perfromers of the world....

love him. Miss him.
Have one of his DVD's.

My Dad took me to see him when I was about 10, and he left a very lasting impression.

<may also be a good reason why I also appreciate Zappa for his in-your-face anti-snobbishness>

The thought of Victor Borge, reminded me of the poetry of Victor Buono aka King Tut on Batman in the late 60's..etc etc

Another comedian using an art form, for comedy..while poking fun at the purists as well :)

My parents had this on 8 track as a kid and I wore the damn thing out listening to it....still all these years later, I could recite several tracks verbatim to this day..

I did my own Victor Borge act at the gig last night.
Saturday night has usually been packed with trim but last night was Hefer night or something.
Every dame on the dance floor was huge ............ :o
I usually have a mix of my Star Trek, fake appluase & Three Stooges SFX on channel 16, but last night I broke out the Farm Animals foley collection chock full of Bovine and cackling Hens, etc.
The Big Cow sample is extremely well recorded and I was using it exclusively with a certain trio that danced every other number.
I know I'm an asshole, but damn we was laughing till we cried.
Gotta have fun since the pay is below minimum wage.

What was more funny than anything is we knew when they was itching' to dance, they would stand by the edge of the dance floor and lean in, and I even could hit the highest A on my 88's where the loudest Moo " mating call " was located, and it worked like a cattle call.... :D
You would hear this giant Moo with a great STW Ambience for space, and suddenly the Bovine will fill the floor...........

Yes..........the Herd.
Next week I'll try out my cheezball IR collections.
I have New York, Hollywood, Nashville and Vienna. Naturally all made by famous film composers, but these Giant Moos will probably require better treatments.
Perhaps my Yosemite, Grand Canyon or Yellowstone IR's especially made for millions of Hoofs stomping around............Yes I have it,............I shall use the Old Faithful Geyser Buffalo March IR............It's perfect....One can actually hear the dust settling as the 20 second tail wears off... :D
