Strange Paul McCartney trivia

Post by krizrox »

I was searching around the internet for some information on one of my favorite bands (Hawkwind) when I came across this odd bit of Paul McCartney trivia.

http://www.barneybubbles.com/blog/archives/tag/hawkwind

Scroll down a bit and look for the Mrs. Mills album reference. I had never heard of Mrs Mills before but Paul helped her get a recording deal at Abby Road back in the 60's. He later married her grandaughter. And Mrs Mills was supposedly going to replace Stacia in Hawkwind. This is like a Twilight Zone eposide. I'm sure there's a lot more to this than meets the eye. I now need to buy the entire Mrs Mills catalog.

HAWKWIND??? are you serious, they are one of my favorite bands as well, hardly anyone even knows about them.

speaking of Paul, i read something the other day there's a conspiracy theory he died and was replaced with a lookalike, that might explain how he regressed to boring middle of the roader :D

Prepare for intense disappointment.

Unthinkable. Mrs Mills joining Hawkwind would have been the equivalent of George Bush joining Al-Qaeda. Unthinkable.

Well, looking at her photo above, she seems to be wearing a Silver Machine :)

Well i figured Neutron was a Hawkwind fan as he had synths called PXR5 and Sonic Attack. Oddly enough i have just ordered the remastered PXR5 and Quark, Strangeness and Charm and hadn't even looked at this thread. Nice to see some other Hawkers about.

The first HW album I bought was Doremi Faso Latido and I think I wore it out and had to buy another. It wasn't easy to find HW albums here in the middle of the bible belt (midwest region of the USA) back in the early 70s. I had to search hard to find them. You'd have to scour the record bins of the smaller privately owned, inconveniently-located, record stores. Luckily we had a few well-stocked hippy stores in the area that catered to us disenfranchised, forward-thinking, bored, stoned, middle-class youth. Hawkwind, Grobschnitt, Neu, Kraftwerk, Nektar, Gong, Genesis, ELP, King Crimson, Scorpions, Gentle Giant and pretty much all the original new wave of British/German metal and avant garde/prog/space rock. Most of the time I'd buy these albums just because I liked the cover art. You would never admit to anyone at school that you listened to this stuff. You'd get beat up. Good times. Good times

LOL ...bible belt...
cool stuff from my youth, too - from time to time I enjoy it on YouTube now.
Video obviously wasn't invented yet back in the 70s in my area.
Not that bible-proof, but kinda like Lou Reed sang in 'Rockn Roll' ...Every time she puts on a radio - There was a nothin' goin' down at all, not at all...
fortunately we had the British Forces around the corner and their station in range :D

Larry, I recently pointed a german engineer to your myspace site and he was very impressed by your results. Big compliments and a '...you know your job...' verdict. :)
Thought I'd share this...

cheers, Tom

Youth (Martin Glover) of The Orb produced Paul McCartney as "The Fireman". When the latest one got good reviews, he wished he had used his real name on it. Personally, I didn't like that album. The electronic "The Fireman" albums were better. The name is taken from "Penny Lane." Youth is responsible for Dragonfly Records which makes great Trance.
