V5 Talk about new features and tools....

Post by hifiboom »

thank good i got my keys... since this morning :P

first of all Soniccore thnks for the big upgrade.... ;)

the new V5 pack is awesome!!!!!

I didnt expect too many new tools.

But the soniccore SC-CS Compressor is very GREAT!!!! A wonderful tool, very easy to use and exactly what you want a compressor to do. Maximize loudness without affecting the sound too much....

Overall i have the feeling that some stuff sounds a little better than before, like prodyssey, but I may be fooled here....

The new SC EQ is pretty good too.

Nice upgrade I have to say.... :) :) :)

It's good to see SonicCore has put such a good focus on further improving scopes stock effects. I have not requested my upgrade 5.0 key yet for my pci card but will do so in the near future and am looking forward to trying everything out myself. It does seem like a pretty big upgrade overall, especially being free/low costing.

Yes, I agree the new eq's and comps are good - so far impressed.

Like the new faster GUI response a lot too.

the new SC-CS Compressor is simply awesome.

beats the vinco imo....
it has great punch, works on everything and has an analog soundquality.
and it brings out hidden details. I guess it works a bit like the spl stuff...

really nice.

And the fact that it only has one changeable sound parameter is just a plus.....

nice new tool in my arsenal. I love it...

well, about the new features and tools, i'm disappointed if all those plugs are now included for free in scope V5 (A100/P100/CD100, SL9000, RMX160), because i already own all of them and spent a lot of money... in my opinion just another case of bad marketing, taking third party plugins and include them in a free upgrade :( i'm fine if those are free with xite, but not with the old cards, it's a punch in the face for customers who always supported the plattform by buying all the plugins.

i see your point, but on the other hand SC now includes top-notch plug-ins within the basic pack....

someone that buys a SC card or xite will get a good idea of what is possible with the hardware. And thats a plus. I guess many buyers of a luna in the old days may have the feeling that the cards just deliver basic fx and some synth stuff.

At the end it is the plug-ins that make the dsps shine...

And who is buying audio hardware for 1000-3000 bucks, i guess people that want good EQs, Reverbs and compressors....

and now sconiccore inclueds very good stuff in its "basic pack".

And that also raises the level for third party stuff. no one will be a medium class reverb for the platform if there is the warp stuff included in the basic pack...

Hi

Here's a Youtube video me and the daughter did using V5 for audio with a couple of SL9000s for guitar & vocals, and some of the STW reverbs. I love the new reverbs, I just wish I had more DSP.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSVTySo2Pmw

I've got 2xPulsar II cards and I've noticed that I can't load 4.5 projects that are close to DSP capacity into v5. Seems like I need another Pulsar or an SRB.

Hifi, are you running V5 on the same machine as your sdk?

mhhh yes but sdk does not work.. :P

But i didn`expect anything other, when i read that scope 4.5 does not work with new driver.

We have to wait till SC release a SDK 5.0 that does work with new driver.

I really miss it too.

I`m thinking about a split partition, one with vista and scope 5 and one with xp and SDK4.

Katano,

Whilst I can empathise with your plight (I am in a similar one) I am happy for S|C to include these in the base pack.

The product needs plugs of a high quality to compete and I pacify myself with the thought that a better package will produce more sales, more sales will result in more development and we will ultimately benefit.

Have to agree & lets face it - those reverbs from Warp are something special. I'm thinking that a standalone system that's primarily for running the Plate, Ambiance & Chorus/Delay plugs as an ext FX box would make quite a lot of sense.

This always happens to some degree. You buy Minimax for €198, then along comes some synth bundle including Minimax for €198. It can seem annoying, but another way to look at it is that you are helping keep this platform alive and also helping the third party developers - most of which do not make a fortune out of making Scope plugins i'm sure.

Over the years i have learnt to hold out for the deals (like 4.5 for €98) rather than buy everything i want. If you have bought something you needed rather than just wanted then surely it was worth the money you paid for it, no?

I wanted to buy the STW Suite over a year ago and was told not to that it will be included in the XITE-1.
I am pissed I went without it for a year when I could have had it.
Since sound quality is my concern, money is always a secondary choice.
I have no hardware reverb now and even sold my Eventide.
With Flu-Liq and STW Chorus/Delay I really don't see a use for the hardware live.
However if I get more involved with recording a Model M7 would be a great way to add realism to any mix.
What makes these reverbs stand out are the excessive editing parameters.
I am quite pleased w/ all of my effects, EQ's and Dynamics.
I actually have nothing extra compared to the SFP 5.0 RC.
And as far as better sound quality, I have noticed my ASIO samples have new presence and extra headroom. I actually had to turn the samples sends down to -6.0db.
I am not sure if it's Bidules latest May 22nd release or SFP 5.0.
But doing a gig with Bass, 2 x Guitars, vocals and a really good slamming drummer was my first test, and these guys were shocked at the sound quality.

Soniccore has delivered, so what if it's late, I would rather be late, than be on time and suck.
I have few issues I need fixes for, and will play it safe in the biker bars until I am 64bit and happy.

Hail Soniccore...........
Strength & Honor.

Is there any change in how long it takes to load presets? especially in some of the bigger synths with a few voices.
(with the PCI cards that is)

The big synths load quicker, but project loads remind me of a sampler app.
I have a workaround for live work but haven't tested it.
I can actually have 2 or 3 instances of a big synth loaded, and have presets that all share the same Oscillators groupings, etc. Waldorf/Rotors, CEM's, MulitModes, etc.
When SOlaris is finsihed this will be of little conseuquence.
I use SpaceF Insert Loads on my channels so all effects are already preloaded, and then are bypassed/muted. The AUX's never change, as those take a while to load 3 x STW's etc.
I couldn't afford to keep everything loaded in 4,5 but now I can load and load and load....
That is the only difference between XITE-1 and 5.0 cards, and the hotter analog XLR's.

In a world where everything electronic gets cheaper all the time due to competition, there is only one alternative to dumping the price - and that is to increase the value of the product. You where ahead for quite a long while, because you had those reverbs.

3 of the effects in SFP 5.0 are new creations to my knowledge (surround reverb, compressor, eq).
