Omnisphere has made it TO THE MAX!!!

Post by Nestor »

I am involved right now in trying spectrasonics Omnisphere… All I can say is that I have found the synth of ALL of my dreams… It is EXACTLY what I have always wanted from the world of synths. But I never through that it could come in a single package!

For me, this is a final achievement. Omnisphere has rised the standard in such a way, particularly because of its MUSICALITY that I see almost impossible to do anything better than that… bigger yes, but better? I really don’t think so!

I’ve never heard this richness, musicality, inspirational sounds in my entire life, it doesn’t matter when the sound came from, how many plug-ins would try to make them sound organic, alive or moving, Omnisphere does it just out of the box.

I can’t believe Eric and his team could do something of such value in terms of "straight musical results" for composers.
As a musician, I don’t care how complex an instrument may be, I don’t care if people use it a lot in their productions or not, I trust my ears and my feelings, and my ears are in love, and my feelings are flying so high, that I only see the birds up there…

It doesn’t matter which is your taste, your kind of music, your expectations, your style, your way of playing, from classical to experimental, from techno to fusion, you are covered.

The BEST synth in history in terms of musicality, has been born, and it is called: Omnisphere!

I have Omni, and enjoy it a lot.

People need to spend time tweaking their own patches so that we don't start hearing it everywhere.

Also, the overall EQ on the sounds are a bit flat IMO, so during mixdown I find myself wanting to sweeten the sounds a bit.

i assume you mean throw. These kind of statements have been made throughout history. Remember the Fairlight? Sounded completely realistic, just like a real orchestra. Or so we thought. There is no one instrument that can do everything - that's the whole joy of music making and individuality.

It's another example of a great instrument made buy a Keyboardist/Programmer instead of a mathematical genius.
I base most of my purchases by using my ear.
But guys like John Bowen, Eric Pershing have been making synths and samples for decades, so I don't even need a demo from either of these guys.
If you like Orchestral Strings you might have one of these libraries that cost thousands of dollars and can hardly be played because it was made by a recording engineer, who captured the sound in the perfect auditorium, etc.
But after years a film composer I know is finally addressing the performance shortcomings of immatating an Orchestral string section, and I am told it is 1/3 of the size, and 1/2 of the price of the " Giant Romplers w/ 50 mic positions, and 50 choices of crappy IR's ".
It's called LASS, Los Angeles Scoring Strings.......so watch that one as it finally will arrive this summer.

Any of the guys above can make instruments and synths that are years ahead of the pack, being performers, and programmers, and having the ears helps a bunch.
If Omnisphere wouldn't take up so many IPS I would love to snag it.
I still use sample libraries from EPershing from 12-13 years ago.......Top Shelf Ears.

Nestor,

It was tempting for me but I'm now into Vienna Symphony Library, Storm Drums 2, Quantum Leap Pianos, and playing a real saxophone.

I think romplers are great despite what most Scope users say!

I will probably get Omnisphere one day after my bills are paid off.

Jimmy is one of the biggest supporters of Gigastudio and now Kontact. how much more rompler can you get?

personally, i use Stylus RMX quite a bit and Chris at the store swears by BFD. almost everyone here uses at least one rompler....

Please stop making assertions.

I'm using Omnisphere, Superior2 (awesome), and Kontakt3 (until I migrate libraries to STS  ), as well as Independence Free sampler/romplers.

EVERY other synth is Scope. NO VST out there can emulate what Scope hardware can do for the Moog, OB, Modulators, etc.

He made a comment about QL pianos sucking because it is too large. RAM is cheap and so are hard drives. Check out the Pulsar 1 CD "Ultimate Sample Collection" What a crock of BS. I am laughing my ass off!!! No sampler can be worse than the STS series. They could have been a contender siriusbliss.

From what I hear the Arturia synths are as good or better so this so called Scope monopoly you speak of is a myth as far as I am concerned and by the way they do have a modular.

why do you want to be mean spirited? why do you wish to troll? are you ok?

That is your opinion. Plenty of people in this group have no problem with me whatsoever. I didn't say all romplers are great just as not all scope synths are great.

yeah, true, even though ANY soundmaker is cool for something(even arturia products :) ).

i don't have a "problem" with you, either. i just notice(how could i not? it's like noticing that i tend to rant), that you are often purposely saying things to be mean. it's not my(or more properly others') problem with you, it's your problems with others that i'm asking about...

You're write, it is "throw", sorry about the bad writing... I corrected it.

Of course, you're write, it is a way so to speak, but it really is better than anything so far... :)

Hey Nestor,
I agree with you - Omni is a great tool - should keep us happy for a while eh?
I still use Atmosphere sometimes though as it's less greedy on resources.
The beaut thing about Omni of course is that it contains all of Atmosphere, Symphony of Voices and lots lots more.

Have you linked it up with Stylus RMX - if not, that is your next purchase, followed by Trillian when it's released. :D

I’m sorry Braincell, but I have not read a single topic or answer from you since I told you I would never do it again. I just realize that you are here and there because my eyes are faster than my decisions, but I only see your nickname and that is all I want to see, that’s it. Since then, I live a much better life through the forum, sorry… So if you are writing to me again, please don’t waste your time, I will never read you back, never.

Nestor,
not sure if you know this site - it's a bit slow but a good article appears now and again:

This one is better for all Eric's tools:

Eric is one of my preferred developers worldwide, and Omnisphere is from miles away my preferred synth ever in history. I am sure you can do lots of things with many other great synths out there, no doubt, but it comes to be the PERFECT match to my likes, that is the strong thing about it.

Most probably is not “better” than many other extraordinary instruments, like those that will appear in our new platform in terms of quality and possibilities, but the kind of sounds added in this sound-machine, the inspirational and musical feeling to it, gives me the feeling of being at home.

If I were a developer myself, if I were to do a big instrument like Omnisphere, I would have searched to build something quite similar (if I was such a genius like Eric is of course. I whish I was... :P )

A few years ago I described the synth of my dreams, here in the Z, but it was long ago, so I have no idea where it can be, but if you were to read it, you would be surprised when finding that it describes Omnisphere and its characteristics in a pretty close way.

Some people cry loud for something new, as long as it is new, they crave for anything “new”. This is more like fashion than a real need. I don’t work this way. I like things because of their sound, exactly as Jimmy is expressing, this is what moves me towards something.

In fact, I use some very old instruments that I have never replaced because I like them as they are. I would be prone to use new FXs instate, rather than changing my instruments too much.

What is amazing is that almost all patches and even individual sounds in Omnisphere are for me inspirational and songwriting-provoking, instantaneously, that’s what I want, that’s what I’m looking for, an instrument that is like a musician friend of yours, ready to play with you whenever you want to go for a jam, and in any style you are inspired that day.
