Its a shame they can be so forward thinking and yet be so backwards as to be totally US centric.

If by "forward thinking" you mean something that should have been addressed 1-2 decades ago, when the labels still had control over the distribution models. :P

But yes, this is a US group and it seems they're attempting to be a lobbying force among other things, sort of like the EFF here in the US. Their contact info states Washington, DC as their headquarters and the 'manifesto' opens with "The history of the American Music Industry is a disheartening one...". So yea, US centric--apologies to the international crowd.

I did also note that their manifesto is dated 2000, and I seem to recall reading something from them years ago. Wonder why they're making another PR push now? I'm not necessarily putting this here as a testimony of support either, I just happened across a few blogs covering their latest press release and posted up the links that had the most information out of what I had seen. Food for conversation, in other words.
