Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
Hi,
Algorithmix has announced the LP SPlitCompressor - a very high end mastering compressor - but there's a rumour that Algorithmix will release that product on the Scope platform - any concrete information about this and probably other products?
Cheers

Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
On the Algorithmix site there's nothing mentioned about scope for this plug, at least I couldn't find it there.
On the Gearslutz site I can only see that "Wildpark" (bottom of the page) mentions something about scope, but nothing concrete though.
Oh yeah, the RRP is $1800,- for the VST

I read that the Algorithmix compressor can be VERY power-hungry so it might be VERY attractive to run it on XITE-1 for people who wish to use many instances of it without killing their computer and keep their buffer size small. I think such a compressor would be good for the SCOPE Platform even tho i'm not a big fan of every Platform having the same plugins.
I would love to own the new Algorithmix compressor but it is too far out my budget range. All i can do is demo it and dream

Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
what a joke
Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
Yes it seems very high priced.
But a very effective marketing strategy.
After the initial shock prospective buyers incur, they recieve information that for just 2000 USD one can have a bundle of plugs w/ the LS Comp.......Now it sounds like a great deal. and anyone foolish enough to pay for that will surely tell everyone how great it sounds since they are so heavily vested.
For a couple of hundred more one could have a Manley ELOP.
Or 20 Alesis 3630's..........
If only it's results could be heard on all of the iPods and mp3's....
I am glad to see another developer considering Scope DSP's though.
Maybe the DSP version can be downloaded from Ralf over and over everyweek...
I'm just not sure Ralf, let me try it again for a few months on another dozen projects, that should help me make a decision....

Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
in the same time Algorythmics is responsible for Osiris for Scope, so they know the platform for a while already.... @600...
Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
$1800 ??

Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
I joined that forum a couple weeks ago and love jackin' those guys off about Scope.
Most of those cats over there all 100 % Mac, or PC only, or hardware only, or VST only...
You'd think one would use DSP/VST synths to achieve what analog synths cannot do, and hardware reverb to do what software can't do, a Mac for sequencing w/ Gigs PC slaves, etc.
Why not use anthing and everything that sounds good?

Hey, sombody has got to jack them off... Jimmy is just being kind.

Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
It sounds like a REAL 'high end' compressor, but only someone who really needs it's virtues & can afford an $1800 plugin will buy it. It sounds like they've been doing relatively well with their linear phase EQs which are also very expensive, but if some producers feel that they need a certain plugin, no matter what it cost$, well who can argue?
Personally, I think that this Algorithmix comp will NOT be released for Scope. XITE-1 ... maybe? Scope, no.

Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
They really were interested in the Neumann U107 that has 2 x ADP21369's.
It can do Valve emulations and even 1:1 quality remakes of the Realistic 95's that Radio Shack use to sell back in the '70's......
I was shocked as someone replied they had heard about microphones w/ DSP chips inside.........
That's why I watch my manners here around my fellow Brotha's. I know we all share a love for Scope and at least use our cards.
Places like that are chock full of chaps who don't have shit except a mouse and their mommy's Dell.....

hate to say it but ^+1
The first action people should take is to remove cash from Banrural, and break the banks of corrupt people. #escandalogt
Re: Algorithmix & Sonic Core?
100%. Betcha that they've spent a ton of time finessing their algos, which needs amortized. They understand their market pretty well - gotta be smart to do what they do.Shroomz~> wrote:It sounds like a REAL 'high end' compressor, but only someone who really needs it's virtues & can afford an $1800 plugin will buy it. The mastering market is cork-sniffing territory, but for good reason. Golden Ears indeed!

If they've got a set of killer comp/eq algorithms, I wonder if they could make $$ (and drop the price) by dumbing down their stuff & selling lesser versions.
