Drivers not there anymore

Post by paulrmartin »

Hi there,

I turned on my DAW today to find no audio drivers of any sort in it. I tried installing on top of Scope, I tried reinstalling the drivers from the Windoze Wizard, no go!

Any ideas?
Are we listening?..

Don't have a specific idea, but...

Does Scope start even sans drivers? Show in taskmanager etc?

Something mucked up in your registry, PSU issues or other hardware problem?

Scope Starts. All System 32 files are there. I even hear the click in my speakers that says the software has booted up but I get NO sound out of it...

I did that before asking for help. My project is flawless. I get a message opening Winamp that file can't be translated. 44.1 16 bits not supported...
In Device Manager, there is no driver for Multimedia devices.

Now, Winamp plays but not CoolEdit... Freak me out!

NOte: Winamp stopped playing again after I tried opening CoolEdit...

Here's a better link to their site (the page still exists):
http://www.rme-audio.com/english/faq/10entrye.htm

That article applies specifically to midi (10 midi entries as the limit in Xp) but you can use the same registry key to investigate & see if you see wdm/wav drivers. ASIO is in a different location though I think.

As for cooledit/winamp, were they sharing the same driver? Also in your project, did you try removing ALL i/o's (software & hardware) and building up again from scratch with just the few you're using currently?

Also make sure you eliminate hardware issues (perhaps the 5v line on your PSU is sagging?)

Hey Paul,

First off, great to hear you're still alive and (soon again;) kicking!

Regarding your driver problem: did you check Scope's Samplerate panel? Scope might have been slaved previously and might still be set up like that, but without external clock to sync to this time...

Greetings!

Thanks, at0m! I had already checked this option but it did not work. Now, because of your magical talents, it works!... Go figure :)
