AES and SPDIF breakout cables

Post by NAS »

OK i have two SPDIF breakout cables on my pulsar 1s
I have AES breakout on my scope project (Pulsar 2)

Can i swap one of those cables over ?
I have my project card in my DAW and use the others in a second computer just for mixing my hardware
I would really like my DAW to go digitally straight to my monitors but they only have an SPDIF not AES input

Cheers

Cheers gary

Is it possible in that case to use one of the adat outs as a stereo optical out instead ?
Or failing that does anybody know what AES standard the project uses and i will build a convertor

Cheers

EDIT* just found a post about the ADAT outs both being switched to stereo when you use em like that so convertor it is
Just need to know what standard it is now

also, just fyi, sp/dif and aes/ebu are IDENTICAL signals, except aes/ebu is balanced and +4 instead of -20(aes is much hotter). there ARE converter boxes and sometimes, the two can just be connected together anyway.
