Hey Guys,
i have a pulsar 1 and a pulsar 2 and I hoped, after i bought the pulsar 2
that I could use the lowestest ulli-settings
at 44.1khz. But it doesn´t work very well.
If I only use pulsar 2.04a, there is no problem with the lowest settings at 3ms.
But if I use cubase with this lowest setting
my system crashes. My sytem runs stable with cubase at 13ms latency. What can I do to use
the lowest settings with cubase 5 at 3ms.
My System:
athlon 750 slot a
Aopen ak72 with via kx133
256mb ram pc133
pulsar 1
pulsar 2
matrox g400 dh
fast ide 30gb udma66 7200rpm

Please help
thanks

You should not use the lowest setting as it leads very often to BlueScreen or CPU hog...
Usually a good compromise is the 7ms setting...not too much CPU-hunger

one thing - pulsar only is basically no latency, as it is HW; the latency comes from cubase (or other native prog).

yes, 7ms is the best bet. the 3ms advertixement is basically hogwash marketing from CW as it is not really usable given todays computer HW . . .

Ok,
I see if we want to play at 3ms we will need a faster cpu, ram and motherboards. I wait for a 3 Gigahertz machine. Thanks for your advice.
But anyway, could there be a better ulli - result with amd 761 chipset? Or depends the problem on how much ram in the system is and how fast the cpu is?

Thanks for any answer

3ms works fine if you only use a stereo pair and have 1ghz or higher. More than a stereo pair, 7ms, if you get crackles (10+ channels probably) then use 13ms, which is what I'm using when mastering entire tracks, and at that point latency doesn't matter quite as much.

I use an asus p2b (bx) which is running a p3 600 mhz and I`m using pulsar 1 + 2 SRB, not quite a smart combination, no chance to get under 34 ms.

Zer, you should have no problems getting 13ms latency on that setup...??

I've got a similar system as Zer, P1 + P2SRB, P3850 on a Asus CUBXE. Using ASIO2 24bit drivers I get the infamous "clicks and pops" at any ULLI setting under 25ms.
If I use 16bit, 13 ms is no problem.

Interesting, I'm using 16 bit. Now I see

Well, mostly I use the 16 bit ones (sufficient enough for my music)

But everything below 34 causes pops and clicks...
