2 Scope Pros, but which one to set first in cset.ini?

Post by katano »

Hi all,

As I sold my third pro card a while ago, I switched back to my older but surprisingly stabler DAW with only 2 pci slots. I've got two PowerPulsar IIs (Scope Pros), one with the zlink plate, one is a SRB only.

So my questions for the techies are:

1. Which one should I set as the first card in scope, the zlink or the srb? Does it even matter?
2. I read a few threads about stdm cables. How many cables would you recommend and why? I use all 5 at the moment.

Oh, and btw. This DAW is a cheap Dell Dimension 5000, over 4 years old, Intel 915g chipset if I remember well. And I was able to load 17 Masterverbs :o the 18th brought up the pci bandwith error. Just to say, the other DAW, a Dell Dimension 8400 only loaded about 14 :(

Thanks and cheers

mmm... I'm pretty certain that we had problems with Scope on our system when the SRB was the primary card. Haven't had any problems since changing it do be the 2nd card with our Pulsar2 as the primary though.

2) I use only 4 and am fine. Some say less might be better for less overhead in DSP management. But no strong evidence on that
thanks guys

1) my srb has 14 dsps and it's production date is 2004, the powerpulsar II is from 2002 and has in fact 15dsps, so i thought this could may have an impact the one or the other way..
2) anyone else experienced this with less dsp overhead, too?

cheers
