Have been trying to get my mic setup to work with Skype. I can get audio back from Skype but no mic in. Do I need to somehow route the scope input into the on-board sound and then back out again? Or is there an easier way to do it.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks
Steve
Routing Scope input to on-board soundcard output SKYPE
Re: Routing Scope input to on-board soundcard output SKYPE
the skype mic needs to go into the card's analog input. there might not be enough gain though, since there's no mic pre. the card was never really meant for consumer computer use...

If you are using also the motherboard's embedded audio card along with Scope, which is quite possible if they don't share the same IRQ, use it for Skype and access Skype through its mic input, which is typically designed for such an use.
If You want to use only Scope as the exclusive audio card you will get skype's audio through the Wave source module in the scope ewnvironment and you will be able to send your voice to skype if:
1) connect your mic to an analog input of Scope through a preamp of sort (analog inputs on scope are line level only)
2) Route the Analog source to a Wave Destination module in Scope environment.
Basically the Wave modules in Scope represent the input and output at software level of the Windows audio functions.

I'm guessing that the most sensible idea in your situation would be to use your onboard soundcard *only* for Skype, and to close SFP when you use skype - you could then get one of those headset mic/earphone things and plug this into your onboard sound card, and ignore it when in 'Scope World'.

They could also run in parallel....You can set Skype to see just the onboard drivers. I have a laptop where I can connect an Apogee mini-me via USB and use its audio drivers for example to listen to YouTube or some mp3 from big speakers, while talking on Skype through the Realtek onboard soundcard with the laptop speakers and embedded mic.chriskorff wrote:I'm guessing that the most sensible idea in your situation would be to use your onboard soundcard *only* for Skype, and to close SFP when you use skype - you could then get one of those headset mic/earphone things and plug this into your onboard sound card, and ignore it when in 'Scope World'.
