I got on the waiting list for a Monome "40h" kit.this spring.
the day has come that i can order it.
They said i can order up to 2 complete kits but i only want one.they dont make very many so this would be a way for someone to skip the waiting list.

if anyone else wants to get a Monome kit.
you have only till tomorrow evening to decide. because i have to pay by then or i loose my space.

the complete kit is $264 (inc shipping to north America)
just the logic part if you want to make your own button pad is $124 (inc shipping to north America)

If you are handy with electronics you can build it (keypad has 64 SMD diodes, the rest is thru hole)
or we could arrange something, or you can get your friend who does electronics to do it.

i wont expect payment right away just someone to express interest, if they change their mind i will just build the extra one and ebay it.

Well the best thing to do would be to check out youtube for monome. It is only as useful as your imagination can make it really. there a several different open source software for it
i dont see much of them being used for live playing though.

I want to start trying new styles of music before I slash my wrists.
This could be used as a source of composition like a matrix sequencer w/ samples.
Count me in.
Can you perhaps explain what you plan on doing to it electronically?
Also, if you interseted in tricking the model out like you would suggest.

Awesome! i got order in for 2 kits and they are shipped already:) Im thinking what cool custom scope devices i could make for it.

XITE-1/4LIVE is the winner of the "first refusal" (I had a sneaking suspicion that would happen) so i will offer him the second one before i ebay it. it may take a while to build though i have to get down the SMD soldering. And you better hope i dont just like it so much i decide to keep both of them

Oh yeah and Xite, i think this would also be perfect for your visual timing cue, you could have one row dedicated to counting beats, bars or whatever you like. check out their software and other peoples contributions, there are tons of things for it.

I was hoping you'd say that.
The LED's being synced to a Delay's BPM can now be seen and not heard for reference.
This is perfect as I am so bored using a recorded sidestick in our ears ( w/ a splash of verb ).
We could use it as our visual click track, another advancement IMHO.

I will use this to have fun w/ delays.
I really like the way a real performance w/ tight timing sounds over the quantized. compressed, perfectly sync'd delay performances sound.

Try this out and you'll see what I mean.
Take a nice Delay where when you hit a stacatto, the tail results in 7 repeats of the struck sound. Counting your strike as one, this means the other 7 repeats total to be eight sounds in a row.
Make these delays as 1/4 notes and then play until you lose the sound of the delay, which is caused from tight timing of your ears and fingers.
Stacatto notes will reveal the delay, and slightly off timing results in a psuedo flange/phase effect, and just sounds so much more lively than the always quantized perfectly drums, etc.
Of course perfection is a good thing, but the imperfect human element is more versatile for control if your timing is fairly accurate.
On the other hand, having a perfect recording quantized and then changing the BPM of the delay by a number or -4 for 8 measures, and then +4 for 8 measures, and perfect sync for 8 measures is a very cool effect also.
I am experimenting w/ both as we speak by playing bass lines over a drum track that has verbs only, and using my ears.
But an experimental set of Delays I am using allows the zipper free movements over a perfectly quantized Bass & Drum track and it is a very cool effect.
Especially when I use the reverse in real time.

I do not care about the time or cost. I am use to waiting for things that cost much more and have taken alot longer.

imagine a pattern delay with the first 4 rows controlling the delays and the next 4 wows controlling a gate > envelope on those delays. now thats just ONE thing

They arrived!
Now i have to get some LEDs and solder a zillion SMD diodes. mind you they are not the really tiny ones, so it should be fine.

cant decide, amber leds or green ones, maybe orange? i do know im sick of blue. it looks so tacky because it reminds me of really crap computer parts like Thermaltake.

mind you that one up there looks pretty nice as well! ^^^^

Front plates came in. I went to a web site where machinists bid on small jobs, it worked out great.
they are CNC machined out of solid 1/4" 6061 aluminum.

I have been using them just with the bare circuit boards anyways

now to make some nice boxes for them.

Lookin' good Neutron!! Those Alu panels look seriously solid.

It would be quite time consuming & would need to be done asap, but you could get a really nice finish on the top corner edge of the button apertures by lightly filing them (with a very fine toothed needle file), then burnishing them to get a nice fine polished edge.

In fact, a fine deburring tool would be much quicker than a needle file for creating a fine chamfer.

Hey, do you have a link to that website? I need to get a new panel made for our twin keyboardless Wasps. Also, what software & file format were used to create the file for the machinist?
