Does the PCI-e 1X connector on an Intel DP35DP have the same issues w/ IRQ's that the 32bit PCI slots have?
I had to buy a USB Hub to avoid problems w/ mouse and RAMStick freezes because of all of the Port disabling I had to do in the Device Manager. It still displays some problems when I run too many Controllers, Dongles, DVD's, RAMSticks, QWERTY & Mouse simultaneously.
I am hoping that using a single PCI-e 1X connector w/ the XITE-1 will free up some ports so I can run my Dongle on it's own Port. The Dongle has 9 eLicenses now as I ran out of Ports for Dongles.
I will be downsizing to a 4 USB need instead of the 7 USB devices I currently use.
Hopefully I can have a port for each device.
IRQ Selection And USB Port Disabling
Re: IRQ Selection And USB Port Disabling
I banished all USB stuff from my scope machine except mouse and kbd.
put sequencer on a different computer and let that one have all the usb crap.
got the cheapest card i could find with ADAT (emu 1212 from ebay $119) connect that to scope and use scope for mixing and effecting the 4 stereo or 8 mono busses. and synths of course.
no scope MIDI or ASIO drivers are even used. the MIDI clock is dead on now.
and the sound is not going through any crappy EMU AD/DA at all. it sounds great
Scope machine is much happier, and it doesn't need a fancy CPU or anything (E8400 is more than enough)
Before that i got a PCIe 4 port USB card to try and get rid of the sharing.. well it didnt work for me with a supermicro CS2BE
and dont forget to disable selective suspend!

Re: IRQ Selection And USB Port Disabling
likely, you'll have do disable a lot fewer things since you'll only be using the one slot for Scope.
Re: IRQ Selection And USB Port Disabling
Yep...that's the plan I hope.
BTW, I saw an amazing project studio ( very early this morning
) with the old Neve console from Donna Summers castle in the sky up here. It's just been open for a year but the guy has tons of great gear. Avalon, Apogee's, Lynx, Lexicon 480L w/ LARC, Mac's w/ ProTools and a PC w/ Kontackt 3, and tons of Romplers.
The PC DAW was like nothing I've ever seen before. It had an Abit Pro P35 w/ an E8600 w/ 4GB's of OCZ Flex II PC1200 RAM and XP32 Home + the PAE 3GB Switch.
It has an amazing software tool called GuRu for the BIOS which stores settings for Overclocking in the CMOS.
Stock it is fast as hell, but there's Heavy, and Maximum.
He can switch the settings on the fly while building projects !! He uses tons of high spec'd Sonalksiss VST FX and when the DAW starts running out of juice, he hits the other settings until the project gets the results he wants. I was impressed.
The RAM can run at 4-4-4-10 @ 800MHz which is really low latency, and then @ 1200MHz the CL timings at 5 & 6. The CPU gets jumped up to 3.9 from 3.3GHz, and again goes up to 4.45GHz !! All on a stock HSF combo.
I can't wait to start working w/ him, but it was late at night and eveyone was buzzed, and I actually think he was feverish for Shelley, so we'll see what happens.
But your advice on the Intel and especially the P35 chipset has been proven over and over to all of us. Thanks Again.
Thanks for the link also Brotha' Man Stardust.
Brotha' Man Nuetron, I took your advice on suspension a while back. thanks.
Supermicro's are excellent aren't they. I use a P4SCT+II w/ a 3.4EE in the DP DAW. It has never shed a single tear after 4 years of abuse.
BTW. I use an Early Reflector w/ your ADT on the lead vocal live every night. I trigger it w/ a pedal for when we go from a verse to a chorus and it is perfect. Sounds exactly like the TC Helicon's Unison preset. Thanks.
